About Me:

I got serious about running in 2010. Since then, I've trained for and run in 11 marathons, including the Boston Marathon, the Crater Lake Marathon, Grandfather Mountain Marathon, and the Pikes Peak Marathon, a mountainous trail race that goes up to 14,000 feet. I run from 50 to 70 miles a week and try to carefully study the science behind running to improve my performance and give advice to others.

I'm now focused on improving my PRs in shorter races from 5K to 15K.

FYI, I'm mainly using MyFitnessPal for logging now, so while I'm happy to accept your friend request, I am not actively looking at my feed or commenting on other folks' posts. If you have a question for me, you can post it on my wall and I will usually get to it fairly quickly.

Since I'm often asked about this, here are my training paces:

Easy / Recovery: 8:15-9:00 ("dave running easy")
Long run / "regular" run: 7:45-8:30 ("dave running")
Tempo: 6:15-6:45 ("dave running hard")
Speed / Interval work: 5:20-6:00 ("dave running hard")

Why I want to get in shape

To be healthier and live a long, happy life
