Once upon a time I was young, fit, and in the US Army. Once upon a time I could run 6-8 miles a day and barely be breathing heavy. Once upon a time I could fast walk 15 miles in under 3 hours with 100lbs of combat gear on me. Once upon a time I could see my feet. Once upon a time I got a job sitting at a computer. Once upon a time I stopped moving. Once upon a time I gained 120lbs. Once upon a time I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. Once upon a time I was hospitalized with a severe infection and blood sugar at 584. Once upon a time I woke up to realize I was slowing dying. Now the story begins...
Why I want to get in shape
I am a sedentary User Experience Designer, which means I sit in a chair looking at a computer screen with thousands of lines of tiny code for 8-10 hours a day. Also, having Diabetes is a giant pain in the arse! It's regimented, scheduled, restrictive and EXPENSIVE! All that just to stay alive! Luckily I wasn't born with Type 1 so my situation is reversible in my mind. My ultimate goal is to get back down to at the most 200lbs, with a final goal of 10% body fat. My other goal is to get off my diabetes meds and return to a normal life.
