"we were unable to connect to the sever to synchronize"
This is the message I get each time I try to log in using the updated iphone app.
Anyone else have this problem?

We're looking into this issue and we're working on a fix. Thanks for letting us know about the problem.

In the meantime, can you try deleting and reinstalling the app to see if that helps? Please make sure that you've synchronized the app before deleting it to make sure you don't lose any data. To synchronize, make sure your phone/ipod is connected to the internet, and just log in to your account within the app. Or, if you are already logged in, tap on the "More" section, then the top row which should read something like "All local events synced". Tap the synchronize button to make sure everything has been synced from your device.

If you receive error messages, just ignore them. Most, if not all, of your data should still sync to your account. You can verify that by logging into your account online and making sure your entries match the entries in your phone/ipod.

Let us know if reinstalling fixes the problem. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Mike, when I opened it to do this, it worked! I went ahead and did the sync and it worked also.

Thanks!

How are you deleting and reinstalling the app? Please make sure to do the following:

- First, before you do anything, try to login to the app and sync. You can also tap on the "More" , then tap the top row which talks about local changes synced, then hit the "Sync Now" button. You may want to do it a few times. This will make sure your data is backed up as much as possible so that you can restore it before you reinstall.

- On your iPhone/iPod, tap the "MyFitnessPal" app icon and hold your finger down until the icon starts to jiggle and a little "X" appears. Tap on the X to delete the app.

- Then, from your iPhone/iPod and while you have access to an internet connection, go to the App store, search for MyFitnessPal, and install MyFitnessPal directly onto your device.

That's the best way to insure that you've cleanly reinstalled the app, and if you do that, the sync failed message should no longer appear. Let me know if that helps.

We have a more permanent fix for this, and we've submitted an update to Apple. We're just waiting for them to approve it so that everyone can install the fix. Until then, deleting and reinstalling should help eliminate the problem, at least temporarily.

If I cannot sync my data will I lose it when I uninstall and reinstall the APP?

If you cannot sync, then yes, you may lose the past few days of data. However, that "Synchronization failed" message is misleading - most of your data should be getting synced properly, and only a very small amount of data (perhaps one food or one food entry) is not syncing. If you want to be sure that your data has synced properly, you can always check your food and exercise diaries on the website. Whatever appears on the website has been safely synchronized and will reappear in the app when you reinstall.

Just checked my food diary and everything that I did yesterday and when I tried to sync gave my like 20 extra entries of all of the items I tried changing.

Yeah, unfortunately, that is a possible effect of this sync bug. Reinstalling should help eliminate the problem, at least temporarily, and hopefully the update we submitted to Apple will fix it permanently.

Hello, first of all thank you and well done for coming up with such a great idea. I downloaded the app yesterday and entered data today for breakfast. The app works brilliantly but it does not sync with the website. I have manually tried to sync it under 'All Local Changes Synced' and then 'Sync Now' and I followed your advice and reinstalled the app but still the same problem. The website still shows the total calories goal for the day without reflecting the changes made in the app. Thanks. smile

Strange, there must be a delay. As I finished posting the above message and then clicked the 'My Home' tab, the calorie goal changed to reflect the app.

Was having the "synchronisation failed" error consistently when I first updated my iPhone app last Thursday even though it does sync all but the last meal I added sometimes; also I had issues whereby the serving size was flipped to larger sizes hence inflating the calories consumed figures.
However since Saturday 15th May, I noticed that I have not had the "synchronisation failed" error and I have had a "All Local Changes Synced" message in green consistently! Not sure what's improved the issue but it has made new version much more useable especially in offline mode which has always been a big disadvantage until now!!

GOOD JOB TO THE MIKE AND HIS TECHNICAL TEAM !

Reinstalled the app.
Went to the More tab on the iphone and synced from there.
Working properly from then on.
Thanks.

Having the same problems. Can't sync either it just defaults to Synchronization failed. Shows last sync as of May 14th. If I remove app and reload it will it effect the information I have already entered?

Hi -
I just started using MFP on my android. It synced once, a couple days ago, and since then I consistently get sync failed message. At first thought this was due to lots of people's New Year's resolutions, but I can't sync at all - it just says sync already in progress, then sync failed - so I can't save my data and then reinstall. Any other thoughts?
Thanks!

Mine is saying, "Another synchronization is in progress; operation cancelled." Any ideas?
