TOPIC: Dr. Fuhrman's web site & update on cinnamon

I don't know if everyone on this board subscribes to Dr. Fuhrman's web site. I was talking to customer service earlier in the week and they told me a new web site design will roll out in the next few months. Stay tuned!

Also if you are not subscribed I just wanted everyone to know Dr. Fuhrman recommends using Ceylon cinnamon rather than other types. He is now selling Ceylon cinnamon. I got some at my local Penzey's store.

Here's a quote from the website:

"In addition to flavor, a critical difference between Ceylon and Cassia is the coumarin content of Cassia. Cassia cinnamon is the main source of coumarin in the human diet. Coumarin is a naturally occurring toxin which has the potential to damage the liver in high doses. Cassia contains high levels of coumarin, whereas Ceylon contains either undetectable levels or only traces of coumarin. Coumarin can cause liver toxicity in several species, and was found to be carcinogenic in rodents.

Recent studies have revealed that regularly consuming Cassia cinnamon powder could be problematic, resulting in potentially harmful levels of coumarin intake. For example, one study estimated that small children eating oatmeal sprinkled with cinnamon a few times a week would exceed the established safe upper limit of exposure. Similarly, they concluded that adults who are heavy consumers of culinary cinnamon or take powdered cinnamon supplements could also reach potentially unsafe doses."

Thanks for the info!

His website kinda cracks me up because it looks so 90s. Ha!

And that cinnamon is AMAZING. After having that kind, the stuff that you have used since the dawn of time will no longer be recognizable as cinnamon.

It will take a while to listen thru the teleconferences. I know Dr F has changed some things over time. Would anyone mind giving me the run down of an Ideal day. Here's what I think:

1 lb of raw
1 lb of cooked
1/2 - 1 c beans
1 serving grain
2-3 fruit
2 T flax
1 serving of another seed
A couple walnuts for their nutrients
No oil or any animal product, no sugar, or any refined food.

Is that about it?

I looked for the cinnamon at Whole Foods but no luck.
