Ha-- reminds me of my father....

He came home one evening...walked into the house, straight up to me, smiled bright and said, "Notice anything, Bird?" (my nickname)

I was 10ish at the time, give or take....

"Well, your teeth look kinda yellow. Why?"

"I just got my teeth cleaned."

Oops.embarassed

So, here's the dope that I am...

The name of the show.... Get Smart.

The name of the character....Maxwell Smart.

How I refer to him, AND the show all my life because I'm just THAT dopey?

Getwell Smart

I look at your post, and I'm reading it as Getwell Smart.

Dope.

Ahhh, very good grasshopper....

However, I misquoted the illustrious fowl, as you shall see in the clip.

My son is one step closer to this....

Had a three hour meeting with the recruiter--

Goes to take his ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery ) Monday at Fort Dix....

I'm speechless.

Go figure.

Wow, Marla! I agree with Jeannine that the service offers some wonderful opportunities. Given David's past, however, he best think long and hard. He can't just decide he doesn't like it or be lazy about it.

I agree with everything Kaylynne said. I also think that the military may just give him the discipline he may be craving, although he may not think so once he gets there, if he gets there. I am not sure if I have ever seen Marla speechlesswink

I told him the same. His biggest problem his teen/young adult years has been contempt for authority. I told him if he thinks his papa was Joe Hard Ass, wait until you meet "Major Hard Ass" ha. And that he will undoubtedly find himself under the authority of someone he finds a royal A-hat.

He says that wouldn't be a problem...

um...okay...we'll see.

I know God can do amazing things...can he or has he removed the Texas sized chip that's been on my shoulders for all authority? He's been different around here, that's for sure. He was giving Boo a hard time at the dinner table the other day, butting into a conversation, and I took him to task. Again, he started to protest by saying that I butt into conversations all the time. If I can, why can't he? I basically shot him down with a, "Because this is my house. We're not equals. I can butt into any conversation I want. You, however, cannot, because I've asked you not to. Once you learn this lovely lesson, you'll be a lot happier here, as will the rest of us."

Not only did he clam up, but he issued an apology to Rebekah.

He's flooring me these days.

This should be interesting to see how it all pans out... Nothing in stone, at all. He's still just fact finding, still thinking...but I'm floored he's gotten this far.

EDITED TO ADD: Wow-- extra credit if you can find the very funny freudian slip that I am NOT going to edit out....

Not likely to see it again... Hope you enjoyed it while it lasted.

Pleased with my calories today--

in desperation, I dropped them to 1320. Also will be ordering my old T3. New stuff was from a new place-- didn't work as well. Then I tried "this," and then I tried "that." The only thing that's stemmed the tide of the weight gain was my very first T3. Why am I an asshat that doesn't stick with what works?

Question for the ages...

In any event-- dropped 'em to 1320-- went over by 77-- but still acceptable, to my way of thinking.

Should be in bed-- big day of grocery and birthday shopping tomorrow-- Joshie turns 7 Friday. Where is the time going-- mannnnn.

Love to all.

Nite-nite.

Happy Thursday!

Grandpa got moved from ICU last night. He was in considerable pain yesterday and had put on 13lbs of fluid so they'd doubled his lasik amount. This is one of the things that has caused trouble in the past after surgery so hopefully they'll keep a close eye on him. We were really hoping a bed wouldn't open up b/c he gets more individualized care in the ICU.

Fingers, toes, arms and legs crossed and many prayers that he heals and mends as he should.

Rainy, rainy day here. I'd almost rather it were snow, but this is 4 days in a row I've been to work, woo hoo, even though I wasn't here a full day Monday. Be careful all of you in this latest storm's path.
