MFP crashed my pc while I was using Firefox. Every time I tried to enter calories, it would open dozens of MFP pages in different tabs. I finally lost all files saved in Firefox and Firefox no longer works on my pc and won't uninstall or reinstall. ALL because of MFP....

It's not just MFP:

Well I just checked with all my computer and network certifications and they all said nothing you stated here is correct. You had Malware on your computer, you did nothing to correct or clean this, you continued to run your pc unchecked, then your computer crashed. Your fault, not MFP

This is an ongoing Interwebz problem. I see these issues all the time at work and elsewhere.

Something I posted on my wall earlier today:

Looks like its being fixed or already has been fixed. Depending on how you want to take it.

I sent a note to myfitnesspal and just heard back from them. As stated earlier, the advertiser Netseer was hacked earlier this morning and Google added their domain to the list of malware affected websites. They report that Netseer has cleaned their site and it is now malware free. "We are confident that Netseer's ads are not serving malware infected content to users of MyFitnessPal at this time".

MFP staff has posted over in tech support, I'll just link to one of the threads

First step to safety on any site is make sure pop ups are disabled otherwise you're leaving the door wide open. Second, scan you computer every few months to make sure it's clean. Google, Microsoft safety scanner, set it to full scan before bed then walk away. MSS is updated every ten days with the newest anti virus definitions so it's very thorough. Or the quick scan will help if you're in a pinch.
The smartest thing you can do is get a flash drive with a little space on it, less than a half gig is fine. Then google, RKILL.exe, TDSSKILLER, and Superantispyware free. Download all three onto the Flash drive then set it aside. If your computer ever gets infected you can boot into safe mode then run those three in the same order. RKILL will shut down any malicious software, Tdsskiller will then clean the root of your system, then Superantispyware will bat clean up with a full scan.

you're welcome

Bump. I'm a MAC user, but I know people that this will help!

I'd likely sub the "scan every few months" instead to "scan every few days / weekly" but may depend on how much time is spent on the internet. Scanning "every few months" when "virus definitions are updated every 10 days" seems counter-productive you'd be leaving yourself open to 50 days worth of viruses doing the scan every other month let alone every 3 or 4.

Really don't know what else to do. It probably still is getting into my computer, but I can just keep my head in the sand. Shouldn't myfitnesspal do something about it?

You have no idea what you are talking about. I don't think you were here to see or know what happened, Mr. KNOW IT ALL. But, thank you very much for you or so kind reply.

Macs can get viruses and suffer from Malware attacks too. Hackers don't go after them as often as PC users because of market penetration, but as Mac get more prevalent in the market, so are Mac specific threats.
