Why did we need this here when there an entire "website suggestions/feedback" page? I'm just confused about this post. Lol.

Haha I was wondering that too. Also, a lot of these suggestions are things that you can already do, which is why it's nice when people post THEIR OWN THREAD for a suggestion so that they can be answered individually. I am not going to go through this whole thing and quote to correct people to tell them how to do things that already exist like I might sometimes do if someone had an individual thread.

Example - Two people mentioned they wanted to add a recent food from a different meal, say from Breakfast, to another one, say Dinner. You can already do that. You just use the little drop down arrow on the recent tab and select "all meals" and it lets you conveniently search and add from any meal to any meal.

It doesn't, actually. I'm not sure why you think it does. I cannot take my entire meal from dinner and copy it to lunch the next day. It's impossible.

.....I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not. On the off chance that you're not joking, all you have to do for that is either save your meal from dinner under the "my meals" tab which you can do from the drop down menu next to the meal name and then it's there to add to another meal whenever OR you could just go to your lunch the next day and select the drop down menu at the top of the "recent" tab, select "all meals" and then do the multiple check marking to add multiple foods at once from what you had the previous day for any meal.

Both of those methods would work.

What you are suggesting is not the same thing. I CANNOT copy last nights dinner to today's lunch. I don't want a work-around, I don't want to copy it into my meals, I just want to click, copy dinner to lunch...done.

Please add support for Cardio Trainer, it is the only app which records most of the Indoor exercises too. It is all in all.

I agree, along w/ editing recipes. Sometimes im out of pineapple for my shake, and i just go w/out, or i decide not to put something on my pizza that i put on it last time.

Please add balance exercises as a category to the exercise area. Maintaining good balance is incredibly important as we age, but is neither cardiac nor strength training specifically. Currently there is no place to track this type of exercise.

I've beem usimg MyFitnessPal for over a year, and it's the best thing ever for long-term motivation. A few suggestions:

Please make the reports and graphs more flexible. They only include data going back a year, and I'd like to see my progress for as long as I've been uisng the program.

Please give me a way to disable the "calories earned" feature. Adding the calories burned by exercise iinto the day's calorie allotment is a distraction.

Lots of GREAT suggestions by all . How about adding a "like" button when responding to comments. I hate that I have to write something every time.

Thanks for the app Mike! Can you add the ability for us to track Vitamin D? My counts are always low and it would be great to see how much I'm taking in every day.

Thanks again!

I would love to see a a feature to track custom stats (ie. body fat %, water weight, or anything else).

This one you CAN do. You can track anything measurable in MFP

My home > check in > track additional measurements
body fat % even happens to be the sample text beside the "add a new measurement" field giving you an idea what to add besides individual body parts ie the right arm could be different size than the left arm so why limit yourself to tracking them as one entry?
daily steps from a pedometer? add a field for it
water weight? add a field for it
hours of sleep (from bed time to wake time anyway, not counting how "well" you slept.....

I have finally gotten my husband on board to try using MFP but the condition was that I do the logging for him. It would be great if I could log a meal or food to more than 1 account when entering it - that way "families" could be enrolled and logging would be more efficient ..

You guys do a great job.. thanks

You can do this. The "feature' was finally brought to the website in Nov 2012. It's been on Android, iPad and iPhone version of apps since at least June 2012 (android was added then iOS ones were even earlier)

You log the meal on one account (be it creating a recipe to log a serving of or adding all 20 ingredients that make up your pot of chili etc. Whatever route you go ... if you create a recipe make sure you log a serving to your food diary that is shared with your family / friends who are eating your meal.

You have them view your diary from their account (why it has to be a shared diary) and

website - they click quick tools > copy to today

apps - click the wrench / spanner in the header with the mealname > copy to today

Doing so will copy the nutritional info of a serving of the recipe or to copy the 20 ingredients for the chili if you logged them directly "as a meal".

Do note that if you use all 6 meal slots on your account your friends / family will have to have all 6 active also to copy successfully from yours. Copying from meal slot 5 on your account will copy to meal slot 5 on theirs even if your slot 5 is dinner while theres is evening snack. But they can edit which meal slot it is logged in once it's in their diary by clicking the food item to bring up the edit window and picking another meal slot.

I too would like to see food from all meals listed under recent and frequent. I may have a banana for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

For the apps
Windows Phone
http://www.myfitnesspal.com/help/faq/212-can-i-see-my-frequent-items-across-all-of-my-meals-not-just-the-meal-i-am-adding-a-food-to
iPad iPhone use the same one as Android
http://www.myfitnesspal.com/help/faq/75-can-i-see-my-most-used-items-across-all-of-my-meals-not-just-the-meal-i-am-adding-a-food-to
Blackberry
http://www.myfitnesspal.com/help/faq/120-can-i-see-my-most-used-items-across-all-of-my-meals-not-just-the-meal-i-am-adding-a-food-to

Website - food > food diary> pick a meal and click add food> on the "add food to (selected meal) page there is a search box and RIGHT below that search box it says "Or add favorites for (selected meal)" - DEFAULT behaviour
click that "selected meal" and pick the only other option which is ALL MEALS.
Now the items you've logged for meal 1 are available for meal 3. Can be easily changed every time you access the food diary depending how many items you want available to pick from

I am really excited to get into these type of sites and devices to help me get fit again. I've been trying many sites and services out and I'll say I like MFP's open approach to supporting a lot of devices.

However, I think a lot more polish and functionality needs to be given to both the website and the apps. I use a Windows Phone, and the MFP app pales in comparison to others out there, namely Livescape and some others. The MFP is very bland and basic and displays minimal information pulled from your account. The weight graph is too basic and ugly, and your daily running total is a list of hard to read numbers with no graphical display.

I'd say take a good look at the work done on Livescape. It's a beautiful, informative app that looks complex but is really nice I'd say just buy/merge with that guy to pick up his talents.

As for the website I am really disappointed in the lack of information displayed when you log in. I want a nice graphical overlay. I know pushing the social media aspect of everything is hip these days but I could really care less about all the messages. The "My Home" tab should feel like a home. Instead it just feels like a brief stopping point with no information. As for the "Reports" why not just display a 7 day summary for all of them instead of clicking a little bubble. Again, you get to the site page and there is nothing there.

Just a few suggestions. I'll keep looking as I think the open approach to devices is the way to go. I am hopeful but things need work all around.

THANKS!

Hi MFP,

I have really enjoyed your site and really like that now you can pair smartphone apps with your site. I have found and app called "MYFITNESSCOMPANION" which really includes almost every type of health issue or monitoring you might need (diabetes, hypertension, heart health, weight, pulse asthma) and works with a ton of Bluetooth/ANT+ health monitoring devices. This app also can upload the health information to Microsoft Health Vault, which stores all your health data completely under your control for access which you give/ revoke to anyone (loved ones, Dr's, ...).

Please add the ability to link the app (MYFITNESSCOMPANION) to your site. Thank you

Love this app and website but would suggest the following improvements:-

Metric and English measurements should be across the board - I opted for metric measurements which works with my weigh ins but it still talks about how many pounds I have to lose, not kilograms. When you put in cycling speeds in the exercise part it goes by miles per hour, not kilometres.

When I entered my gym workout exercises it does not calculate how many calories are burned or put it against my daily total.

That is all I have for now. Thanks.

I really like and use the app all the time. However I just updated it and found that on the food page you eliminated the running counts of both sodium and sugar. Those totals are important to me and although I am able to check those items on the home page, it was much more convenient and easier to keep track if they remain on the food page.

Notifications on the site itself to tell you when someone posted on your wall, or replied to something you posted on theirs. I would also like to track more than 5 nutrients at a time.

add in a recipe scanning function... or rather an "export to recipe" function.

I can't begin to note how many times I've been cooking something, more than a single serving, and had to:
1. add all of the ingredients to a particular meal.
2. go to my PC
3. open the recipe builder
4. key everything in manually from the scanned ingredients
5. go through a ton of steps to complete the recipe.
6. go back and delete the individual ingredients from the placeholder meal
7. re-add the recipe that I just effectively deleted.

Give us a scan-to-recipe function, or "export ingredients to recipe" function.

Noom ...definitely. I use Noom and MFP only and agree that syncing with that application would be cool. However, I think we are all asking too much. I mean, we use MFP because we love it. If we change everything to everyone's needs, it will no longer be that application we all love. Well that's my two cents for the day. :-)

Add a recipe to a recipe. For instance, I use my turkey spaghetti sauce in lasagna but I can't enter that recipe within the lasagna recipe. It is helpful for homemade sauces, etc!

Sync with Garmin. =)

I want to see the permissions reduced for the Android app. I will not use it until the permissions are actually reasonable. For example, why does this app need to be able to take it's own pictures, or copy my contacts???

Here is a copy-paste from the Google Play store of some of the BAD permissions:

Take pictures and videos
Allows the app to take pictures and videos with the camera. This permission allows the app to use the camera at any time without your confirmation.

Read your contacts
Allows the app to read data about your contacts stored on your tablet, including the frequency with which you've called, emailed, or communicated in other ways with specific individuals. This permission allows apps to save your contact data, and malicious apps may share contact data without your knowledge. Setting goals with Macro nutrient numbers rather than percentages. For example 410g of carbohydrates 310g of protein and 100g of fat. This will make the app a lot better for people who track marcos rather than calories.

I wish there was a place on here to track sleep as well. I think there is a correlation between how much sleep you get and weight loss. I would like to be able to track it and see how much of a difference it makes. I know I could do it on paper but it would be nice if it were all together.

I would like more editing options in the Food Diary such as deleting (permanently) items no longer wanter or being able to alphabetize the lists to make it easier to find items or be able to group items in categories. Also I have managed to put duplicates on my lists and there is no way to delete them.
