I have just finished reading a book written by the owner of our local gym "Eat Smart, Eat Often, Eat Small" by Gino A. Spada. It follows the principals of this website which is great! The only thing that I wish is that I eat 6 small meals a day and want to make sure I stick to the calories at each meal. Currently I am having to add Meals 1 & 2 as Breakfast, Meals 3 & 4 as lunch, Meal 5 as supper and Meal 6 as Snack. If you could have an option for selecting which meal plan you would prefer that would be great!

I was looking at my stats for today and realized I was having a tough time "visualizing" the numbers. I mocked up an idea for adding some pie charts summarizing each of the nutritional categories: http://www.radilly.org/MyFitnessPal_MiniGraphs.jpg

I popped the data into Excel and plotted it ... which is what I do with data I want people to understand quickly at work!

I use this site alternatively on the Web and Android and it's been a great tool!

A like a lot of the enhancement ideas. Additionally, I would like a food diary search feature, food amount conversion option, option to save interesting message board posts, and .... (ugh! just forgot it, will post later).

I do a lot of yardwork, housework (repairs/painting/installations of fixtures and such), and playing with my boyfriend's son. These don't fall under any categories already listed in the exercises and I don't know where to look to find the calories burned for these activities....

So basically just an update to the exercise database with more everyday exercises.... There are some oddball ones on there!

exercise > database to get a list of the "cardio" exercises you could log

Gardening, general
is a possibility for "yard work"
Mowing lawn, general
mowing lawn, riding mower
moving furniture
moving boxes
moving household items
cleaning heavy
cleaning light

playing could be walking / jogging / running depending on what you're up to or any other exercise that you deem fits from the list.

It would be nice to "send" a MyFitnessPal friend particular meal info. For example, I am using this tool along with a co worker. We trade off bringing lunch for the 2 of us. Whoever prepares/brings the meal usually calculates the info and keys it all in. Then the other has to re-enter the same meal on their diary. It would be nice to be able to send that over to your fitness pal. Especially since having a buddy or partner to do this with is so important.

It exists as a capability in MFP in exactly the opposite way that you're trying to do it. You can't SEND the meal info to a friend from your diary but they can, from their account... view YOUR diary and on the website click quick tools > copy to today to PULL the meal data from your diary to their own. Apps such as iPad, iPhone and Android can also do this by clicking the wrench / spanner in the header with the meal name > copy to today leaving Blackberry and windows phone as the 2 platforms that can't do what you're seeking.
It's for each users "own protection" I really don't need 50 people sending me their lunch, but if I happen to eat with one of them and choose to copy FROM their diary I can.

fyi - you currently have the option to change your diary settings to what you want.

You can update the names of each meal to whatever works for you as well as enter more total meals. in other words, you can update it to go from saying, "Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snacks" to "9 AM, 11AM, 1 PM, 3PM, 5 PM, 7PM". You can check it out in Settings > Diary Settings.

I do a boot camp cardio/strength workout and, after working hard for an hour, I can't remember every single exercise I did. It would be so great to have "boot camp" as an option for exercise. I know this is general, but many people do boot camp classes and it's almost impossible to log right now. Thank you!

I would like to have the recipes I enter show all their nutritional content without having to change my diary settings. Just like searching the database, I want to be able to see all of that output from an entered recipe.

It seems to be adding calories onto my daily allowance when I haven't added any exercise??

Allow foods on lists to be sorted alphabetically or in order of last used - alternative add - group together like foods like fruits etc. Allow recipe entries to be edited instead of deleting and then adding back the same ingredient when something changes.

All the lists when you're in the "add food to a meal" screen at food > food diary > pick a meal and click add food
CAN be sorted alphabetically

most used, recent, my foods, recipes and my meals are all alphabetical.

It's done by the SORT BY option right above 'Recipes" in the tabs you can click that I just listed
most used, recent, my foods, my meals, recipes...

sort by default - order of use or creation in the case of meals / recipes
and sort by name - alphabetical order and it applies that across the up to 4 pages of "recent" foods so it's A-say E for page 1 F-M for 2 N-S for 3 and T-Z for 4 depending of course on how many foods you have with what letters in their name.

a calendar view to see your net calorie total each day

bmi and hip-to-waist ratio tracking

a way to blog from the app. (and/or read and post forums)

connectivity to more fitness apps, particularly Run Double

more cardio exercises, particularly zumba, slim in six, hip hop abs

it really is a great app. I love it! these things would make it amazing!

On the website it would be very helpful if there was a "save as" feature for recipes. Or, if the name is changed you can ask if I want to save as a new recipe. Recipes that are variations that substitute ingredients or change the number of servings would be much easier to enter vs starting from scratch each time.

I would like to see food measurements in ounces not grams. Most of the foods I eat are measured in teaspoons, tablespoons, cups and ounces. I cannot compute even simple math and the conversion charts do not offer this option. When eating out, I have no idea how much my 6 ounce chicken breast is in grams or the teaspoon of dressing or butter weigh. I hope others would benefit from this also.

I know you can change the names on the online diary from breakfast, lunch to 9am, 12pm etc, but would it be possible on the app to have the option to either have the traditional, breakfast, lunch headings or for the "small and regular" eater to have time slots, for example, 6am to 9am, 9am to 11am, 11am to 1pm etc? I use the Android version, but also the website. Thanks for reading.

I'd really like to be able to enter all the data I can for my walk/runs. Distance, time, calories burned, average speed, maybe even a route.

I'd also like to be able to sync from my Map My Fitness app and Fitbug.

Hello.
I'm sure you've heard this before, and I do appreciate that this is a free site and so I have no right to make demands! However, I wanted to add my voice to anyone who has asked for this, as it is becoming increasingly difficult to find what I need in the food list. There are a huge number of user-added foods in most of the lists, when all I really want are your official calorie counts, as these seem to be accurate and give a 1g/100g option which is 100 times more useful than '1 cup' or '1 portion' or other weird things that other people measure their food in! Many of these are almost identical, or just badly spelled! For example, recently I was looking for your entry for red pepper. I discovered after several minutes of reading through other people's duplicates that I would not find it unless I typed 'peppers' rather than 'pepper'.
It would be fantastic if there were an option to just list YOUR foods, and ones I'd put in myself. It might help, in the meantime, to remind people not to tick 'Yes, let other members use this food' unless it is genuinely something new. Almost all the lists are cluttered up, which detracts from their usefulness. I'm concerned that I will stop bothering, and thus put my weight back on! I do use the 'recent' and 'favourites' list, but as my diet is quite varied, these don't always help.
You might find, if you ask, that some of your members might volunteer to help clear up the database if you could arrange that. I have done online text correction before, and would be quite prepared to take a section of it and get rid of all the duplicated nonsense! We needn't take away things that individuals use, just take them off the general database.
I hope this is one of the things you're working on!
By the way, I tried to post this on the 'this is what we're working on' post, and although the button worked, the next screen just said 'This topic is locked'. Please don't put a 'reply' button on things that can't be replied to! I'm lucky my message was still here when I pressed 'back'!

I would love to see the site and app be able to edit the recipes you save. If you make adjustments to the recipe you can't alter it in myfitness you have to totally re-enter it. I have unfortunately had the site crash while trying to enter a recipe to figure the calorie count and since there is no save and no way to go back into it I had to start all over. With that being said I love everything else and don't know how I ever lived without it so thank you for giving us such a great service!heart

1) a single numeric field for pedometer steps that would be exported with your reports so you could tally it.

2) A simpler export format - excel spreadsheet with all summary data fields in a simple layout, one column after another, with each row being a date. Columns for all the data fields there are (perhaps checkboxes in the preparation for export where you pick which columns you want.

I'd like to just have a row for each date and the totals - calories, fat, carbs, protein, minutes of exercise, calories burnt, (steps recorded) etc etc. It would be awesome.

I 'd like to be able to "share a meal or food" with someone. My wife and I talked about this being a good feature.

Log the "my meal" or food that you created and kept private (or recipe) to your food diary, if you're friends on the system have them view YOUR diary from THEIR account and
website click quick tools > copy to today
apps (iPhone, iPad, Android) click the wrench / spanner in the header with the meal name > copy to today
If you log a recipe serving do note that all they will receive by "copying" from your diary is the nutritional info of a serving of the recipe, not the list of the ingredients and quantities in order to make their own.

I'm having trouble getting enough calories, and I need to restrict my sodium. This makes me the opposite of most users of this app- I want & need to overshoot my calorie goals, and I want & need to undershoot a nutrient goal (sodium).

1) I want to be able to edit my sodium daily goal. Many other nutrients as well. (Potassium & others) The detault is 2,500/day. I'm working on 2,000/day, and will be at 1,500/day in the future.

2) The app's summary is built around calories as the most important thing. Some screens, it's the only thing. Well, sure, if I wanted to lose weight, that'd be fine. (Home tab, My Diary tab, Progress tab) I want to track focus on sodium & calories. Can I switch the focused thing to sodium? Both?

3) The web site lets me select (pair down) the nutrients to display. Excellet! I want to do that on the iPhone app too!

4) I haven't found a way to edit the calorie (and other) goals from the iPhone app. I saw someone do it on the web site, but I haven't found that yet either. There's got to be easier ways to setup & adjust my goals, other than just arbitrary weight goals.
