Thanks myfitnesspal team for considering these enhancements to make your app the best there is. I couldn’t find a dedicated location for feedback on the app so I’m making one here for everyone. Here are some of the critical adjustments I would love to see. Friends, please add to this friend and second anything you like so that the myfitnesspal team knows how many people want what enhancements.
- Please remove the ‘earned calorie’ feature or have the option to disable it. If someone is tracking their fitness they want a constant calorie marker and they want to burn off body fat NOT earn more calories to take in as food.
- I would love to have a timestamp show up when I enter my food items so that way I know when I ate along with a button to update the timestamp if the time needs to be adjusted. Currently I have to manually track this in the meals notes, and typing is a time waster.
- I would love to see the pie chart showing goal and current meal macronutrient info on the food entry page of the app. Just like itemized billing would appear on a receipt.
- Ideally users could setup macronutrient goals for different meals and different days, just like people schedule different days for exercise and recovery, or lean days and refeed days.
- Have a feature on setup that lets people choose the macronutrient ratio that best suits them with a short explanation on the general consensuses for using that ratio.
- Change the goals to either gaining weight, losing weight or body composition change; measurements and body fat % are a more important focus for most anyone. Scales only frustrate efforts. If someone tracked measurements they would be happy and keep using the app and stick with it.
My overall opinion is that the more myfitness pal is a tool with adjustable features for any user’s circumstance the more effective and popular it will be. Things like Facebook are used by everyone because the user has creative leeway to create what works best for them. If myfitnesspal was even the slightest bit less customizable it would be unusable for me and most people that lift weights or do athletic competition.
wink

Be well

Some additional enhancements that I had written down earlier and lost track of:
- a 'Today' Button so that it is easy to find your way back to today after looking at other days and months.
- A calender view that shows how close you hit your calorie and macro-nutrients for that day.
- When making a note to friends, have a multi-add feature so we can send messages to groups of people.

Thanks Team, You Rock!

Hi! I think a great addition would be a meal planner! I agree tracking helps but planning out what you will eat that week also helps keep you on track. The Menu Planner should have the ability to incoporate all the recipes with nutritional information just like the tracker does.

Thanks!

I would like to be able to track more than five nutrients.

I would like to be able to manually enter the calories burned from exercises. I play many fitness games (such as "your shape fitness evolved" and "EA Sports") that tell you how many calories you've burned. There is not a good general exercise to select that will match up very well. I think this would be a great feature a lot of users would find helpful.

One thing that is really annoying is that if I eat something for dinner or lunch, then I can't find it for breakfast, and have to scan it again or enter it again. Often I will have leftovers, and this makes it really inconvenient to do so. Right now I am eating lunch, and would like to put it in. BUT WAIT! I can't enter my stuff from last night without scanning it again, and I don't have the wrapper.

So basically I would like if the recent tab included food from every meal, not just breakfast. I can understand the 'frequent' only being one meal, as I frequently eat the same stuff for every meal, but it is a big pain that I can't click on recent food and have food I have eaten recently in that category.

Hi

One thing I would like to see is a broader range of other fitness apps to sync with. In particlar Strava - extremely popular apps for tracking exercise that track calories burnt amongst other things.
To be able to sync my cycling activity straight into this app would be awesome

Thanks!

Having zumba in the excercises menu, so it is easier to add the calories burnt! :)

Is it possible to add some additional measures to the progress reporting? In particular I would like the option to report on BMI change in the progress reporting. As BMI is a relative metic and takes into account height it provides a better indicator in some ways than pure weight.

Create a bar code scanning system for smart phones whereby you are able to scan a bar code on any given machine in the gym and it automatically knows the machine / muscle group and you just enter the weight and reps you did.

It then tracks what weight and reps you did last time so that next week you can remember and push yourself harder.

And it calculates more accurately what the burns should be for weight training.

And after 3 months it suggests other machines to switch to so that your workouts remain fresh and challenging.

I would like to see this sync with CardioTrainer by Noom. I utilize this app for everything cardio, it has a lot of different exercises to choose from. I love MyFitnessPal and any enhancements that may come are fine by me!

I would like to be able to enter my Resting Metabolic Rate and HR Zones as well as upload from my Garmin watch.

when entering exercise for walking. Please let me enter distance walked. It currently only allows you to enter time. I would love to be able to enter the distance and time that I walked so that it would show up in my news feed.

Sure could use an export of data to cvs or excel sheet

I'd like to
- See others' recipe contents!
- See average kcal intake in the net version as well as the phone app - AND be able to see average during a chosen timeframe, not just weekly!
- Be able to track workouts without messing with the kcal "allowance"
- Make my own manual list of foods that I use regularly
- Edit the contents of my meals

Add a feature to email logs by day, week, month, or specified date range. This app would be so much more useful with this feature as many people could use with their doctors.

I'd like to see net carb subtotals by meal in the MyDiary. To avoid crowding the screen, I'd make the calorie total active to that touching it would switch between calories and net carbs for each line item and the food subtotals. Also, to have the ability to separate morning, afternoon, and evening snacks. These enhancements would make MyFitnessPal the must have app for those managing pre-diabetes or Type 2 with diet and exercise.

You can do this by CREATE A NEW EXERCISE (just like you create a new food entry.)
After clicking on the exercise tab, choose Add Exercise, then type in you exercise in the Search Box. If there isn't a matching exercise then click on Add an exercise to the database. Put in your information: Description of exercise, how long and your calories.

I do this by creating my own exercise. In the, for example, I enter: Walking, weighing xxx pounds, x miles at x mph. Then I enter the minutes and calories

I would like more editing options in the Food Diary such as deleting (permanently) items no longer wanter or being able to alphabetize the lists to make it easier to find items or be able to group items in categories. Also I have managed to put duplicates on my lists and there is no way to delete them.

It's been requested numerous times. It would be the single greatest improvement. Let us copy an item, multiple items or a meal to any other meal without having to save as "my meal". I want to be able to select whatever foods from whatever meal (multi-add) into any meal. I frequently make a meal for dinner and have it for lunch the next day.

First of all, I have to say this app blows all the others out of the water. It's phenomenal. That said, there can always be improvements.

One that I would like to see is to look something up in the database and be able to add it to my food log. As it is now, I have to look it up, pick the one I like (ie grapes in #s as opposed to ounces), and then remember what's it's called, exit and flip over to the food log and find it again.

I'd like to see a breakdown of ingredients of some of the items: for example tuna salad: does it have full fat mayo? fat free mayo? relish? etc. I know not all will have that entered, but a general entry like "fajita" is a bit of a guess at the calories.

Better reporting tools would be nice. I really can't decipher anything from the reports provided.
