Can we have the Food Diary also calculate all the Essential Vitamins and Minerals please? This would help me determine if I need a multivitamin or not. Also, I am vegan and it would help me see if I was meeting B-12 requirements. This would be so awesome. Please add. Thank You.

+1 ! I'm trying to heal deficiencies, and it would be nice to add my list and be able to see my daily intake values.

Not just calcium, iron etc. Vitamin d3, iodine, selenium, chromium, magnesium, many more.

Also, I'd like to Customize my idaily goal values. I need 6k Vit D a day to repair my deficiency. Likewise, I need more iron than most, more vit K, more vit C, more iodine, etc.

I also find I do better on a lower carb/higher fat profile.

I'd love a place where I could set my own values and change them as my needs change.

Thanks again for a great program!!

You CAN set your goals for the things that MFP tracks nutrition wise (as per USDA food labelling requirements this means only Vit A, Vit C, Iron and Calcium are "required")

my home > goals > change goals > custom

Just note that the values for the vitamins / minerals that are tracked are recorded as % of your DV as per the labels they get the info of. So you have to have an idea what the USDA is using as the daily goal... which to make it easy I'll toss in the info I found last time this came up

So if it's a US label it's a "standard percentage" across all the items as the labels are standard to the 2K calorie diet.

Found the last post I did where i had found what the RDA's may have been
Vitamin C 60mg
Calcium 1000mg
Iron 18 mg
Vitamin A 5000 IU's (International Unit whatever those are)

Those are the 4 micronutrients / vitamins that MFP tracks so there's the numbers in their appropriate units... mg's for 3 of them and IU's for the last.

If you need more than 18mg of Iron say... 27 mg then you need 150% of the DV
if you need 1200 mg of calcium then you need 120% of the DV etc

This is what is missing. A previous software program I used had this plus glycemic load and other measurements.

Helpful, thank you!

Now if only I could add things *i* need, not just the RDA Min's...

Where do I customize and track my dearly underrated iodine supplement intake today?
Vit D?
There are more.

Hopefully now one can appreciate the value of what I wrote. For me, the 4 mins are not enough.

Thank you for the gift, site masters, of receiving our direct feedback requests.

I would love this as well. I'm finding it difficult to meet my vitamin needs

I would LOVE to have vitamin/mineral tracking on MyFitnessPal!

I agree this would be excellent!

However if you want to manually calcuate you can use to find the values on pretty well all foods.

I agee also, this would be excellent.

Please add this most of your other competitors have this built in but would rather stay with MFP

I agree with the posts above. I decided to go vegetarian to help me eat heathier this app in wonderful in helping me keep track of my protein. How do I get the other vitamins & minerals to show on a report that I can track to make sure I am eating healthy and not missing any key nutrients?

Hard to believe this isn't a feature for such a popular app. Chron-o-meter does feature comprehensive nutritional details. However it lacks the comprehensive database of foods that MFP has.

I'd also love to see this included

Same for me! Please MFP folks, bring it to the next level!

Giving another +1 especially for Vitamin D. :D

This is something I'd really like to see as well! Especially for B vitamins. As I'm vegetarian, I'm not getting anything from meat, so it'd be really useful to be able to see what my B12 intake is like, for example.

It'd also be nice if there were an option to see a list of good sources of particular nutrients...

If I had the skills, I'd want to set up some kind of database tweak for the foods, including information on which diets they're suitable for*, and use that to analyse breakfast, lunch and snacks (or whatever the user has instead of those), then provide suggestions for things to make for dinner to meet outstanding dietary requirements.
*or which food groups they fall into... perhaps give people the option of going through a list of things (maybe with overarching categories) to set switches, which could then adjust the suggestions to be compatible with their stated dietary restrictions.
