I have belonged to gyms, only have gone when I have had a trainer. Got a pilates machine in front of tv and am not very good at it, but am using it every day since I got it, It is very big and I need to rearrange furniture.

For those of you with a YMCA near by and are hurting for $$ you can join on a sliding scale membership. Am sure we could rejoin but the year we had the membership think we went 20 xs. Not worth the 500$ for the year imo, but that is me right now. I might rejoin again.

For now I am working on setting up my TV room as a work out room, need to rearrange some of the furniture and planning on getting some yoga mats for floor work and getting myself zumba for xmas. If I go downstairs to watch tv and the dang machine is right there, I have to use it! Been working for me so far.

Thinking of getting my kids some weights for xmas which of course I will probably use more than them, but they are 16 and 19. Not getting my son another dang video game, he plays way too many damn games. So clothes and weights. I know I will use the weights :) They want something else they can get a job and get it :P

Come to think of it, when I am at the gym now I watch NCIS and do the treadmill. I could probably do that at home too.

I know it is weird, but I HATE walking outside. I can walk an hour and a half on the treadmill. Outside I barely want to walk for five minutes before I am completely bored. The exact opposite of most people, I know!!

So I used to have an elliptical. However at the time I was not ready to loose weight I was still in denial about my weight I guess. So I never used it, however at this time I also had a gym membership in which I never used either. I ate like crap and just didn't care I guess you could say. So I sold the elliptical. Well since starting this journey I have used the gym ALOT almost daily aside from a few days here and there.

I am at a point where I think in the long run just buying another work out machine and weights would be beneficial. That way I could save on gym membership fees, and have the stuff right at my finger tips.

however I am wondering if you have the at home equipment how many of you use it? or how many would prefer to get to a gym?

Even if you only use the elliptical at the gym, once you go to the gym, the chances of you not finishing your workout are slim.

However if you have a piece of equipment at home, it is very easy to slack off, or even skip a workout.

I wouldn't suggest it.

I had a membership at the Gym , But never really felt that I was able to get a solid work out in , It was always to crowded and I hate having to wait around , I spent to much valuable time waiting around for parking , and waiting around to use a machine .... I'm enjoying my work outs at home following the DVD programs because I feel like I have a trainer pushing me and working out at the same time ..

I have a treadmill that I bought from walmart 5 years ago... Love it! When I make a butt crack full of money I want an elliptical.... And bow flex....

I am an example of this also... Zachary is right, BUT when I tell someone from Mfp my goal for the next workout, they keep me accountable and I hate letting people down...

I live 45 miles from the closest gym... So workouts at home are pretty much my only option.

Free gym privileges and no room/ money for any of the big machines so I'm more than willing to drive out to spend an hour or so on a treadmill. If the gym is closed or if it's during peak hours I just throw on my workout clothes and walk around the neighborhood.

I prefer to work out at the gym, but like having the option to stay home. At the gym, there is variety. And if a machine breaks down, someone else has to fix it. Also, the machines are better quality than what I would have in my home. But I know people who spend thousands on their treadmills and ellipticals. That's not something I would want to do.

The majority of my workouts are runs and I always prefer to run outside - however, on days that I cross train or weight train ... or didn't get my run in before sunset I use the gym. I have tried working out at home and have found that I usually procrastinate working out since I know I can do it anytime at home ... but it normally ends up with me waiting too long and falling a sleep before I get my workout in. so with that said I like that the gym hours hold me responsible to go at a reasonable hour and there are no distractions at the gym ... but that is just me. I know others who have a great routine and always get their workouts in at home. Also wanted to mention I just hold a $10 a month at a small gym - making it worth it to me :)
