Have you considered creating a spreadsheet to track your friends list? Perhaps an Access database with custom reports that you could run each day to see who may have deleted you?

I don't even know how many friends I have. Unless MFP told me I wouldn't know if someone deleted me. Honestly, It's not that big a deal to me. (It's not like it's tumblr...)

I think you should be able to change your friends notification message and have a deletion message which you can also modify, for instance:-

Kap10 has been shown lots of love by MFP10

KAP10 has been B***h slapped by MFP10

If they deleted you...really who cares. I mean.... really?!?! Im sorry i just cant focuson WHO, WHEN, and WHY someone deleted me. I think I will stick to wondering WHEN I will get time to run and WHERE I will do it and WHY I need to continue doing it when I dont feel like it, Try being selective in WHO you add. Choose like minded ppl. Then maybe there will be less ppl disappearing from your friends list that you cant even remember WHO they are anyway.

Are you angry about this post? Take a deep breath.

Edited to tell you a crucial bit of information:
You used too many commas. Ellipses would have been more appropriate.

I think we shouldn't get upset. If they delete you they have a reason. You have REAL friends so why should the one's on mfp matter if they delete???
I don't get it.

Only internet friends can magically go missing. It doesn't upset me, it disturbs the balance of my control over the universe.

I think a SQL Server OLAP Database is the way to go.

We're going to be needing cubes and heavy data mining for this.

And a service that pushes out notifications to mobile apps.

Probably Crystal Reports too.

It's a few grand all up in any case.

Besides, this would just start flame wars. I deleted somebody and like 2-3 weeks after I deleted her I got hate mails. If it takes you this long to realize that I deleted you, then we were just a number on each others friends list and nothing more.

^^^^^^ agree with this.

This is one of the best threads I've ever read!! Having very few people adding me on here clearly has an added benefit of very few people being able to delete me and make me miserable :-)

So a massive thanks to all you people out there who thought it through carefully and didn't add me in the first place :-)

Before you can delete yourself, there should be a required form to be filled out that includes your physical address.

Just for the record, if anyone de-friends me I would presume it was their own good reasons, like maybe I made a controversial comment or disagreed with them on something...life's too short to to be worrying about how many cyberfriends we have!!drinker

I only have one friend on MFP so I think I might be able to figure it out...

If it is a notification that we can choose to have on or off, then sure, add this feature.

I pretty much don't care if I get deleted, but I'm with the OP. I do wonder who when my number goes down out of sheer curiosity.

If you're unable to tell who deleted you, then why does it matter? Clearly that person wasn't important to you and you to them.

I agree, why would you care for somebody who doesn't give importance to you. If somebody deleted me for unknown reason then its up to them but for me I would rather focus on myself & to those who really matter than thinking of whoever deleted me. After all this is internet full of strangers who has a right to either befriend or un-friend you.

I agree.

If your list is so long that you can't tell who is missing from it, then that's a sign that you probably have too many people on there anyway. It sounds like you're simply keeping track of numbers, not people.

It doesn't matter except that some of us are nosy and want to know who's missing.

I have deleted people and gotten the PMs about it. The people who are going to start a flame war are going to start it regardless of the notification because they stay right on top of their FLs. I don't. I know about how many I have and there are a few who I interact with regularly and would definitely miss them.

It would be a rare circumstance that would prompt me to send a PM to someone who deleted me and I would never send a nasty one. But I would still want to have an easier way to figure out who it was!
