Currently, we have to log 'servings eaten'. Each time you log a food, you have to relate the weight to serving weight. It's an additional complicated measure.

Many of us would like to have the option of using normal units of measure rather than 'servings' invented by marketing people:
1. Choose grams or ounces.
2. Enter the number of grams/ounces eaten.
Simples!

if you see a food that has a generic "serving", it was most likely entered into the database by a member - in that case, there is a decent chance it is wrong anyway. On the website version, these are denoted by a * at the beginning of the name when you search. If you pick one of the items without a *, you will be sure that you can enter in grams.

Unfortunately, the * doesn't appear on the android version and it has been requested several times in the past that maybe there could be a filter on the search to only show user entries, system entries, filter by confirmations, or all, but it hasn't been implemented...

With homemade food though you only have a serving option not an amount in grammes. That needs sorting

If you enter in a food, there is a serving size field that you fill in. So, you can put whatever unit makes sense for a serving size - 1 cup, 100 g, etc.

If you enter food as a meal, it just remembers your food selections and amounts.

If you enter food as a recipe, you only get the number of servings, so yeah, a serving size field would be nice. I just always enter the serving size at the end of the name like "Mark's Chili (1 cup)"

You may misunderstand me. Let me try again:

I measure my food in grams or ounces.
On this site - you can't log grams or ounces.
You can only log servings.

Lets say the food item has been allocated a serving size of 43 grams.
If you want to log 49 grams, it would be handy to be able to:
1. Select grams or ounces as the unit (or have it set by default your preferences)
2. Enter '49'.
Converting weight into servings is extra work for no benefit.
I'm merely suggesting allowing users to enter 49 grams instead of 1.13953488372 servings.

Does that make sense?
