because I don't keep track of macros and am frankly too lazy to look on the package to record it. Though I do wish it was only accessible to me, so I agree on some level. But then there is also the option to edit said foods, so I guess the problem has already been addressed??
Maybe I'll be lucky enough to try Cathy's homemade lasagna with ex lax sauce some day.

The snarky response would be: I guess I'll just throw my trash on the ground, since someone has the option of picking it up.
The helpful response is: You can add just calories with 'quick add calories' if you like. Easy peasy =)

Update as of Nov 14 2012,

MFP did allow us to now copy from friends diaries so I don't have to create a recipe on my account and then create a food to share to the database that my friends can search for to get the nutritional info they can just view my diary and copy to their own directly (again nutritional info only not the recipe itself)

as per

http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/796870-copying-meals-from-friends-now-available-on-the-site

you can now copy meals from friends who have a shared diary on the website.. BUT unless your meals match exactly you'll have to copy in 2 or more steps.
Make sure you have ALL 6 meal slots active if the friend you are wanting to copy from has all 6 used.
Just confirmed via my own testing with 4 slots, I went to a friends diary, clicked copy from their 5th meal slot it SAYS it copied but it was an inactive field on my account. When I activated it the "meal" was blank but when I then clicked copy to today from the friends diary it copied over fine. Now to get it into dinner I have to edit each line item and move them to the slot that contains MY dinner but you can copy from a friends food diary now.

For step two you could "remember meal", then delete all the parts and call that meal into whatever slot you need. You can delete the meal later if you don't have it again
