So I recently purchased the Timex Marathon and I'm really happy with it, I think it's a great little machine. Anyone have any insight into how accurate the calories burned function is on it? I realize it's not a HRM but I'm assuming it's more accurate than MFP because it takes into account your height along with sex, weight, and age. Also, it came in under MFPs estimate by 200 calories. I don't eat my exercise calories typically so this doesn't matter that much to me but being a control freak, I have a need to know. Thanks for your time!

Not sure about the Timex per se, but running calories on the MFP are pretty close to what I get on my Garmin GPS both with and without an HRM strap.

Without the HRM strap, Garmin calcs a little high (~ 135 calories per mile, instead of ~ 125).

Cool thanks, I'll keep checking the difference.

So, how has the Timex been tracking for calories? Have you compared it with an HRM yet?
