Hello, it would be super helpful if there was a way to plan meals, generate a shopping list, etc. I like the recipe feature that you have on the site, where we can add our recipes. But there is no PLANNING feature. Also, there is no way to generate a shopping list. I am trying out another website that I like, called Big Oven, which is a great menu planner and shopping list. However, it is very tiresome to have to create 2 separate databases of recipes. I wish you guys could create a feature that allows meal planning and shopping lists, the way Big Oven has. Even if this ended up being a paid feature on this site, I would totally do it... rather than having to use several different apps to get all this together, which is incredibly frustrating.

Otherwise, if you aren't able to get these features... maybe you could join up with a meal planning site, so that our recipes could be synced? That would really take care of this, and make this site even more awesome (that it already is)!

Another problem with the recipe feature, is that it is so disorganized. It would be great if there we could 'sort' through the recipes... like 'breakfast', 'side dish', 'main entree', 'soup', 'beverage' etc. That's part of why it is so difficult to meal plan, as it isn't going to help if you end up having 100 different unorganized recipes on this site, and can't quickly sort through any of them for the different meals. When I want to quickly add in a breakfast smoothie recipe to my meal plan, I don't necessarily want to have to scroll down through a mix of soups, breads, entrees, etc. It would be nice if I could more easily add a breakfast recipe to the breakfast section.

Another major issue with the current recipe feature is that it only stores ingredients. There isn't a place (as I don't think) to input the actual steps of the recipe. I suppose this isn't a problem if one is simply blending a smoothie, but if one is actually cooking a dish... it helps to know the steps of how to prepare it, cooking temperature required, etc. A list of ingredients without any explanation isn't helpful.

This isn't help for this site, but check out ziplist- it's free, and you can import recipes from any other site, create a plan and a list! It can even pull your local grocery store ads!!

the "directions" or "steps" for the recipe have a field available when you click 'yes" to sharing the recipe with the (future) database.

Makes sense as I know how to put together most of my recipes, but someone reading my pretzel recipe might make the mistake of putting the baking soda and water into the dough instead of using it as a wash / moistener to get the flavourings to stick and brown up nicely in the time it's in the oven. I've made the mistake, once, so someone just reading the ingredients list could really do the same. But when shared the "instructions" field is there requesting to be filled out.

I agree. I would love to be able to make a shopping list via our "Food" category. Also, it would be great if we could have a list of ingredients for our recipes, so instead of having to search through the entire data system again when wanting to create a new meal, we could just select from our already in use ingredients from previous recipes and or foods we selected from the data base.

It would make it easier and less time consuming...
