Good morning MFP,

Is anyone else on a anxiety or antidepressant drug other than Celexa and you haven't gained weight on? I am on Celexa at 40mg and I just realized that I have gained most of my weight back because of it and I am not able to lose it either. I have done reading on Celexa and it does say that a side affect is either weight loss or gain. I have to be on somehting like this since I do suffer from high anxiety and depression.

As you know I was on Cymbalta and at first I lost weight. But after the first 2 months I gained more which led me to my heaviest ever at 169. Now since I have working out very hard and having just a few bad days I lost 2 lbs but I am now back up to 166-167. I have been off of it since October 13th and I am hoping to see a change soon. I did take good measurement just to see if I am making progress in that area. So far I lost 1 inch in my hips and I have been told changes in my face also. We can take this on together!!

See, my doctor told me that Celexa wouldn't make me gain weight. And since I have been on it since November I have gone from 128 to 149 and I can't seem to lose. I am so frustrated because I know that I have been doing alot better with eating and exercising and I feel like I am doing it all for nothing. I know if I get off the Celexa, my marriage won't last. This is the reason I got on it because I was so depressed with very high anxiety. And since I have been on it, everything has gotten 100% better. I am glad that I have a good support. smile

I wa on Paxil and gained 50 lbs. Got off it and went on Celexa and the weight has literally melted off and is staying off. My doc said the weight would come off but I would have to work at it. It did come off on a 1200 cal a day diet. I am pretty happy with it.

Should I lower my calorie intake from 1350 to 1200 than? I do some type of exercises every day.

I used Celexa about 12 years ago and put on an additional 20 pounds that I didn't need. I got off it.. I am on Zoloft since April and have also been strictly excersing and counting calories ..with occasional days off. I have lost 20 pounds. I feel Zoloft is more "weight neutral". Hope this helps. By the way..I feel 100% better on it too and plan to stay on it. just have to exercise and watch calories as I have more to lose

How many calories per day were/are you on when you were on Celexa and now Zoloft? I am on 1350 calories per day and I burn a minimum of 200 calories per day too.

I was in Wellbutrin for two years about five years ago. I lost over 20 pounds while on it.

Well, my doctor just told me to lower my calorie intake to 1200 instead of 1350. Than if I don't see a change within 2 weeks, I have to call back, make an appointment to see her.

I have gained approx 15 pounds while on Effexor. I stopped taking it about 2 months ago and am currently not taking anything. The weight is sticking though. So now I have to do something about it!
