Just a suggestion... On the recipe-building feature, it would be nice to be able to adjust the portion of ingredients. Right now, if I add 1 cup of something and later decide to reduce it to 3/4 cup, I have to search for the ingredient again and then delete the old portion. It would be really convenient to be able to click on it and adjust the portion (just like we can on our daily food journal).

I totally agree! It's completely normal to tweak recipes according to what's on hand and it would be great if MFP let us tweak as easily as well!

I'd also love if the recipe builder had a tab to frequent/recent ingredients to make it quicker to use. I use this feature most days but I often use the same ingredients in different recipes and this would make it so much more convenient!

Overall though, I think the recipe builder is awesome =)

Totally agree, I've built heaps (169 at last count) of recipe's and it would be a valuable time saving feature to implement both the suggestion's made above, I love my recipe builder, just tweaking it that little bit and i'll love it even more :)

and also to have sort options like alphabetically and/or date order in the recipe builder part too, Its so annoying when I start to make something that I've already created!

I would like a "Save As" option - so if I create a recipe, and then decide to tweak & change things, I can "Save As" and keep original and new recipe.

Interestingly enough you can adjust portions of ingredients on the mobile app, which is why it's odd that you can do the same on the mainsite.

Love these ideas, they would all make using the recipe builder much easier!!! I'm sure some people don't use it because it's so time consuming.

This and the first suggestion are both excellent ideas on how to improve the recipe builder.

I would love it if there was a way to link URL recipes from websites like AllRecipes, MyRecipes, etc and have the calories added up. Even being able to copy and paste an entire recipe at once, rather than looking up individual ingredients would be helpful. I have started using Pepperplate to gather and organize all the recipes I've found online from sponsored sites, and then Pinterest for the recipes I see on blogs, etc. Being able to link these or easily import them into MFP would be fantastic. Maybe there is already a way to do this and I'm just not aware?

I agree wholeheartedly with this. I am constantly tweaking recipes based on the amount of stuff I have at home. It seems like it wouldn't be that hard to make the ingredients in the recipes adjustable, since you can adjust portions of items already added to your diary.

My sister successfully got me to join MFP. I'm finding the recipe builder to be a bit of a chore... like I can't seem to enter 1/3 cup of Apple Sauce... Lose It is more flexible in this but once you build it you can't get back into it to see the ingredients and amounts. It would be a shame if I have to build my recipes somewhere else and then just log the info here. :-(

I agree with all the other posts and would like to add a couple of wish list items,
I know that this site is basically for calorie and exercise tracking, but I love the idea of having my recipes here also, it would be really great if you could add a section on each recipe for cooking or preparation instructions, also maybe space for a pic of the dish. It would also be very useful to be able to click on an ingredient and be able to view the nutritional information, without having to go back to the database and look it up again. One last wish item, I know it would probably be a pile of coding, but if you could add all the standard and metric measurement to each ingredient with a standard\metric toggle, it would make adding items so much easier and faster, instead of pulling up a conversion chart for every other item. Keep up the great work! I recommend MFP to everyone.

Yes! I tend to avoid the recipe builder for this reason, but I used it a couple of night ago and was reminded again of how annoying it is that you can't.

Please change this MFP!

I don't know about on any other platform, but you can change ingredient quantities in recipes on the iPhone app.
