Is there a way to scan food items so they will show up in my recent items other than for a specific meal?

For example, I'd like to be able to scan my foods when I put them away after grocery shopping, then for meals I can just quickly go through my recent foods list to find what I ate. It's cumbersome to be scanning things while preparing a meal or after each one, or a package gets thrown out before it's scanned and I have to go through and try to remember the closest thing to what I actually ate.

You can't currently PRE-build any list unless you want to assemble a bunch of recipes for future use.. you can backdate to September before you became a member of MFP and scan items to your food lists... and you can change your default behaviour which is that items logged for breakfast are only available to be logged as breakfast... to items logged for ANY meal (up to 6) can be logged for any other meal without having to search for them again... on the web it's done at
food > food diary > pick a meal (IE lunch) click add food
on the "add food to lunch" page there's the search box and RIGHT below that it says
or add favorites for "lunch" click that word lunch... pick the only other option there which is ALL MEALS.

This can also be done on the various mobile apps, just click help... pick your platform ie android and click the "logging food" subsection of the help ... one of the options is "Can I see my Most Used items across all of my meals, not just the meal I am adding a food to?" which leads to the FAQ for Android, the iPhone, iPad, blackberry and windows phone are phrased I believe identically.
