I always look at app permissions, and have questioned various developers about them. Sometimes it is just poor coding practices. Location data and internet access are most often used for delivering advertising. I don't see a valid reasone for the MFP app needing Fine location details. See this other thread - http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/757993-why-does-the-android-app-ask-for-precise-location
Pictures & video - Probably tied to the ability to scan barcodes Read contact data - so that they can spam other people to join MFP if you choose Change network connectivity - Doesn't seem necessary for MFP And if any MFP staff are reading this, it would be great if the need for Fine location data is explained. The argument for advertising data doesn't cut it, in my opinion.

I totally agree. I haven't downloaded the latest Android app version due to permission changes requiring GPS data now.
