QUOTE:

The last adjustment I've had from fitbit to MFP was on Sept. 25th, even though I have been more active than usual the last two days. I understand how the fitbit/MFP synch works...and have been using it successfully for many months. My settings are correct, with no recent changes on either site. Even on days that I don't wear my fitbit, I get an adjustment of 98 calories. I have tried re-synching the device and unplugging it from the USB port. Still, nothing. The problem seems to be that the two sites just aren't synching over the last few days. Admin, can you help? Thanks in advance!

This is the exact same thing that has been happening to me. No adjustment calories syncing from fitbit to MFP, but all the exercise calorie burn is syncing from my fitbit to my fitbit account. In other words, I'm not getting any credit on MVP for all the exercise calories. MFP just says -0 for exercise adjustment.

Thanks for this post!

Let's see if I've got this straight...

MFP says my "Calories Burned from Normal activity" (BMR) is 1750. My goal calories to eat were 1260.

I shouldn't use today's figures as they are estimates of how things are going. Use the numbers to advise me if I need to step things up or cut back on food. Skip the math to preserve my sanity. This I can handle.

Yesterday Fitbit says I burned 2707 calories. I burned 314 with exercise, entered on MFP and synced through to Fitbit without duplication, as it modified my "calories burned" activity graph to be a solid rectangle. 2707 - (1750 + 314) = 643 Fitbit adjustment on MFP. Looks good! (I also sync my fitbit to the web before entering the exercise in MFP, because I want to make sure the times are right! This might be important for figuring out the duplication issue)

Tuesday Fitbit says I burned 2048 calories. I was lazy and didn't enter any exercise on Tuesday. 2048 - (1750 + 0) = 298 Fitbit adjustment... but it's not. Instead it's a crazy 788. This is the same as 2048 - (1260 + 0), which is my MFP goal calories instead of my BMR. Seems to match what Mike was saying. The different between Tuesday and yesterday is that the calculation was changed between those two dates and as Mike stated, it was out of whack.

So, to confirm this, lets go back to last week, say the 19th. Fitbit says I burned 2719. I entered 304 of exercise on MFP. 2719 - (1750 + 304) = 665... and the calorie adjustment says 662 on MFP, which was my "off by precisely 3 calories" timeframe. Close enough. Again, the calculation was changed between this math and Tuesday, so it's a different result again.

Do I have it right now? If my head explodes, that counts as losing weight, right? laugh

My fitbit adjustment is also through the roof for very little exercise. Here is my info:

- MFP calorie goal from normal daily activity - 940 based on 1000 calorie deficit and a sedentary day. (I set it this way because I felt MFP and Fitbit combined was too many calories for 2 pounds a week, and I would try to get a fitbit adjustment of at least 250 calories a day through steps. It has worked fine since April, until this week)
- Goal weight loss per week - 2 pounds
- Exercise calories manually logged on MFP today - none
- Time that you last synced your Fitbit - this morning

So my fitbit steps is 246 at this moment, my calories burned is 538, and my current fitbit adjustment on MFP is 393, which is way high.

Yesterday, my fitbit calorie adjustment on MFP was 364. Oddly enough, I forgot my fitbit at home so I have no idea how many calories I actually burned, but my fitbit recorded 1194 steps when I put it on in the evening and nothing more.

My experience proves that the fix that supposedly was rolled out yesterday did not fix my issue.

is anybody earning any exercise calories on their food diary? or i am i the only one not getting any? it stopped for me on tuesday and i am getting annoyed...
September 27, 2012 4:17 PM
It does look like the issue with waking up and seeing 200+ fitbit adjustment is now gone. But the original bug for the past month manually adding exercises is still around.

I too have the issue with Fitbit calories earned not transferring to my MFP account. I was able to get one Fitbit to MPF calorie sync in yesterday afternoon (GMT) but once the bug fix was rolled out I couldn't get the two accounts to sync anymore. This issue has continued throughout today. I have unlinked the Fitbit and relinked it, but the issue persists. The Fitbit dashboard correctly reflects the data on the Fitbit. I wear my Fitbit all day, every day. I don't log exercise separately, I only take into account whatever the Fitbit says I've burned (this is a conscious decision).

I'm new to both MFP and Fitbit, and dyscalculaic to boot (think dyslexia but with numbers) so I really can't manage all the complicated formulae I've seen on the forum. That's why I bought the Fitbit; I need a piece of technology to do that particular bit of thinking for me :) Please help, if you can.

I am having this same problem, and mskimber99 posted the same issue a few posts below yours.
I logged my exercise for Wednesday, Sept. 26 (I'm Japan Standard Time zone) before I went to bed, and there was the usual fitbit adjustment of a couple hundred calories. When I woke up on Thursday, Sept. 27 (again, I am half a day ahead here in Japan) that calorie adjustment had changed to zero. (Eeek!) My fitbit calorie adjustment for Thursday also turned logged as zero (didn't log extra exercise), and so far today, Friday, I'm still at zero.

Now I see a lot of information on previous posts, and noted that administrators said there was a recent recalculation to the Fitbit Calorie Adjustment. However, I didn't notice any admin responses addressing our specific issue. Is this just the way it is going to be now, or is this a bug?

Thank you so much for your time!

Couple of things; 1 - its posting incorrect numbers for the adjustment figure, for me, since Tuesday/Wednesday. I had a couple of weeks of it seeming ok, but 2 - when I read the explanation its SO complitcated it just cant be right/useful. I dont mean to be down about it but I'm a tech programmer and when things get this complicated it usually needs a step back to review what we're trying to acheive.

I think most of us want to use
Fitbit to track real calories burn
MFP to record calorie intake

Then we want a choice of the front end:
So if we have linked MFP to Fitbit

Simply put I would like to see

1) Transfer Calories in (food) from MFP to Fitbit
2) Transfer Calories burnt from Fitbit to MFP

I know it gets harder with the Goals, but if I choose MFP to be my main app, I can set that a goal and just leave Fitbit, and vica versa.

The other option is when linking the two, to disregard targets which seems to be upsetting things?

Right now, my stats are getting messy and I dont know how to fix it. How about Fitbit license the MFP database?
September 28, 2012 1:57 AM
No adjustment for today and yesterday. And MFP took off my adjustments on tues and wed. Re-synced...nothing. Fitbit has downloade the data. I just had it all sussed n now gotta figure all the crap out again. Depressing.

Okay I'm reading lots of people with issues of insanely HIGH MFP adjustments, but I'm also seeing only a few people indicate NO adjustments. I'm one of those people. I completely understand HOW this works, I've been using FitBIt for quite some time, and I love it. However, since Monday it has NOT adjusted. Last night I have -0-, the night before I had 58 (after a two hour theatre dance rehearsal?). When is this fix going to come through and on what end is the problem? My Fitbit is syncing to fitbit.com with no problem, it's just not transferring the information?

I have not been getting any Fitbit adjustments since 9/25/12 after I updated myfitnesspal on my iPhone. Right after I updated the app. my fitbit calories adjustment went from 431 to 0 and it has been 0 everyday now? It doesn't seem right to go from 500 to 800 fitbit adjustment to 0 everyday?

I also am having problems although mine show less calories for the FitBit adjustment than is showing on the website. I am to eat 1200 calories a day to lose weight and here is the last week's data - doesn't make any sense. Something definately changed and I would like it back to the way it was. I am earning more calories on the fitbit website and it is show much less on the MFP website. HELP!!!

Just to keep this topic alive, since the technical support people have not, as near as I can tell, even bothered to acknowledge the issue much less deal with it.

I got up this morning, went to the bathroom, made coffee and sat down. On my FitBit dashboard I see a total of 590 calories burned. This is fairly typical of FitBit's BMR calculations this early in the morning.

I relinked MFP to my FitBit to see what it would do. It did a calorie adjustment to MFP of 556 calories.

This is ridiculous. I understand there are other things going on but it would be nice if they would at least acknowledge that they have noticed that we are having this particular problem as well.

I am kind of new to this also and have been following the blogs trying to keep up to date on the latest news. i have had both the very high and very low calorie adjustments; but my issue since yesterday (9/27) is that my fitibt data is no longer syncing with MFP - I can tell because the total step report data is based on early yesterday AM. Do I need to "unlink" and then "relink" the accounts? If so, how do I actually do that?
September 28, 2012 6:50 AM
I don't know if it will help, slimmiss, but I think I can tell you how to unlink and relink them. Go to the Tools tab in MFP and click on FitBit Ultra Tracker on the top left. There should be a green button that says "Unlink your FitBit". Click on that and it will unlink.

Then I think I would go back to your exercise log and delete any FitBit adjustment. Then, go back to the Tools tab, etc and there should be a button to link a FitBit tracker. Do this and it will ask permission, etc and relink them.
September 28, 2012 6:59 AM
And I can confirm I'm seeing the same thing ladies. I normally log anything between 200 and 800 calories burnt a day into MFP from my Fitbit but I've been seing nothing for days now, whilst maintaining the same level of exercise :(
September 28, 2012 7:15 AM
Well, all the 'this is complicated' posts aside, the plain fact of the matter is that the link between Fitbit and MFP is broken. I've been using both since April without a problem. The last few days, the Fitbit info is NOT coming through to MFP, plain and simple. I guess I can start logging my intake on Fitbit's site, yes? Sigh.

Seriously, there is way too much to read here that does NOT pertain to a lot of our problems.

The Calorie Adjustment for Fitbit to MFP has been ZERO the last week, no matter what activity is done. I walked 15,000 steps yesterday and , again, ZERO for Fitbit Calorie Adjustment.

Has this even been addressed by Technical Support?

I don't have the time or patience to read through all these epic long posts on how to calculate calories, etc, that I have a feeling doesn't address the ZERO issue.

Help.
September 28, 2012 8:19 AM
Still having issues... see my post above formy details, but Thursday ended with a fitbit calorie burn of 2139 and an mfp fitbit adjustment of 719, and today I already have a mfp fitbit adjustment of 460, but according to Fitbit I've only taken 190 steps and have burned 577 calories. This is very frustrating!

I am seriously starting to regret buying this thing. Next time I will just get a HRM. I could have just gotten a cheap pedometer and had less of a hassle.

In every instance we've investigated, the zero calorie adjustments are CORRECT. If you want to make sure an adjustment is happening, try lowering your activity level in your profile. If you are still unsure that the adjustment is correct, please send us the following info, ideally for a complete day (i.e. yesterday):

- Your MFP net calorie goal
- lbs/week you are trying to lose
- Calories burned for the entire day according to your Fitbit
- Date that this data applies for

If you can tell us that info, we can show you how the adjustment was calculated.

If you do not see this behavior, then it's likely Fitbit's fix has gone live. If so, you should also not see an extraordinarily large adjustment on our site.
