TOPIC: Sharing meals

My partner has just signed up for My Fitness Pal. On many occasions we eat the same meals though in slightly different quantities.

When the meal or part of it consists of mixing ingredients together in the cooking process I generally create a recipe so I can then log the proportion of it that I eat and obviously it would be easier for her to add the same meal in a different proportion to her food diary rather than enter the data twice. Is there an easy way to do that? We are My Fitness Pal friends if that helps.

Similarly for meals where we may choose different quantities of things, for example a salad. If the selection of items is the same it would be useful to be able to copy the meal from me to her and then edit the quantities rather than search for the same items again. Is this possible?

Closest you'll get is IF you happen to be using the iPhone iPad or Android apps. You'd log in one account and then USING the app go view the other persons diary where the food is logged. Click the wrench / spanner near the calories for the meal (perhaps in the header bar that includes the meal name as on the iPad) and copy to your own diary. That will copy the "meal" if you've logged all the ingredients in your diary and once it's logged in your diary you may be able to edit quantities as needed... if it's logged as a recipe you MIGHT be able to change the serving size ie if you had 1 serving and the other had 1.5 servings worth

if you're not using one of those 3 platforms then might be easier to create a recipe once on one account and then create a new food to the general database based on the nutritional info of a serving of that recipe. With the new food shared to the database your friend can log that food to their own diary. This way doesn't allow for changing quantity within the recipe ie using 2 cups of spinach instead of your 1 cup.

Thanks. I have just browsed to a friends food diary and I can see the wrench icon. The wording is the same as when I copy a meal within my own diary but I assume it always copies into my diary regardless of where it is coming from.

I have my diary shared to friends so that means she should be able to find it on her phone or tablet and go from there.

We have the app on Android, BTW.
