TOPIC: My car was there!! NSV

August 18, 2012 10:44
It's hot as hell in TX right now. Not the best time to take up walking in the park, but that how I do things. There are usually about 30 cars in the parking lot when I get there after work for my walk. Yesterday there were about a dozen...and mine was one of them. It would have been so easy to drive right past, but I didn't this time. I walked. I had surgery on my foot earlier this year and my flat feet cause some serious fire in my shins but something was different about yesterday. I felt so good to be one of the few who chose to be on that trail yesterday. I finished my usual 22:44 mile in 21:10. I felt awesome!

Turning that corner in your own mindset to where exercise is part of your routine that you really don't want to skip and where it feels good inside to do it...that's a victory in itself!

I live in a hot place as well and it takes dedication to exercise in heat and humidity! Good job. I'll think of you when I sweat this afternoon in the park where I live!

Thats a great job and with the added heat you probably burned a bit of extra water off as well....keep up the good work.

You should get fitted for some good running shoes with support to help your flat feet and the shin pain.

I have to admit I've been running inside too to avoid the heat, so you ROCK!

Thanks for the kind encouragement.

Eric, I got custom orthotics after my surgery and went to a specialty store to get fitted for good shoes. Check, and Check! I'm very confident that the burning is just my body wondering what the hell I'm doing to it. I have been EXTREMELY sedentary for quite a long time so it's just something that I'm going to have to work thru.

Ya'll have really encouraged me. I'm going for a walk around the track by my house. TTYL! THANKS!!
