I am a part-time P90Xer. I love the work-outs but to much for me when I have to work 10 hour night shifts. I switch it up with the 10 min trainer on my work weeks. I still do yoga, streach and ab ripper on my "off" week.

I am stronger, I just haven't dropped any weight. So now I have to be better about food, its kinda hard when you live with someone who takes in 2500-3000 calories a day.

Welcome! Tony does amazing things in ten minutes; you really can't go wrong with anything he does.

But nutrition is key. Plan ahead. Log your intake here in MFP before you eat and then you can adjust where necessary.

Posting here helps keep you accountable too!

Hi All,

I thought that I posted a comment to this thread a few days ago but don't see it.

I haven't spent a whole lot of time on these message boards - usually post to my wowy message board - but came across this the other day and was super excited to see others here that love the P90X program as well.

I am currently involved in Month 2 of the Insanity program - WOW is all you can say.

Welcome!

Yep, total die hard here. I've done P90, P90 Master Series, three P90X rounds, one P90X+ round, one Insanity round (yeah, Month 2 is truly insane), and am now doing a P90X/Insanity hybrid.

This is a great place to check in for ideas & support! Join on in! drinker

Wow, this is the most active thread on any forum I have been on. I love it!

Legs and back + Ab Ripper X done late last night. Did all 50 Mason twists finally. Still struggling on the Pfifer scissors...get all 25 in, but can't stay with them. Oh well. Baby steps, right?

Down 8 lbs in the first 10 days or so. Loving it.

That's great!! Baby steps is right. If we could do everything on day 1, we wouldn't get much out of the program. Nice work!! drinker

My HRM came in today! 5Days early! YAAAY. I'm so excited. I really want to use it. Should I use it for Yoga tomorrow? Has anyone ever used a HRM when doing Yoga X?

Sorry, I have been out for a couple of days. From the looks of it, everyone is doing very well keeping up and pushing play.
I have been working out with a vengence this week. Tonite I will actually get on the treadmill and run 4 miles. That will be my first time. I figured I should see how it feels before Saturday. That way I can see my speed as well. I know I will not be running very fast on Saturday, but I can still do small intervals right? So, tonite I will run in intervals to make it more interesting. I get so bored just looking at the wall in front of me. I read on Active.com to do intervals to make it different. We will see how it goes.
I have to say that Tuesday I did Core Synergistics for the first time in a couple of months and I am still feeling it. Luckily this is my recovery week. Since my run is this Saturday. I sure love Core Synergistics. I forgot how good that workout is.
So, my plan is run 4 miles tonite and then tomorrow rest my legs and feet as much as possible. I think I will do X Stretch to kinda get ready for the morning. Come to find out it is not a 5K, it is a 4 mile run. That kinda scared me a little. I know I can do it, but I am sure I will quite tired afterwards. I am looking forward to it and am very anxious.
Any advice for a newbie would be awesome. Thanx for listening and keep pushing play. bigsmile

Oh yeah, when I got my new HRM last week I used it for Yoga as well. I wanted to see how many calories I actually burned. I figured it would be low, but I am bummed. I am actually suprised on how many calories on all the workouts I have done so far. I figured I would burn more. I sure sweat enough. LOL bigsmile

Sandy- Insanity came today and, like a kid on Christmas, couldn't wait to try it. Subbed the Fit Test for a workout today---liked to kick my butt a little. i was pleasantly surprised.

Just remember that it's not about the per workout burn. The important thing is that you are building lean muscle that will burn more calories and fat on a 24/7 basis.

My per workout burn is relatively low -- maybe 330 or so for Legs & Back, but I can eat like I burn 1000 because I've built my muscles and my metabolism is on fire!

So, I'm really proud of myself for three reasons (let the subtle self-promoting begin):

1) Woke up at 4:50AM (no, that's not a typo) to do Yoga for the first time. Did not realize it would be and hour and a half. Also did not realize my entire previous yoga experience would only be found in the last 15 minutes. Haha. I can't wait to actually do crane!

2) Ate completely healthy today! That's big for me! I don't have a sweet tooth, I have a whole mouth of them. I chomped down my banana with pride as everyone else scored brownies. smile

3) In addition to doing Yoga, I finally went back to my step class after 3 weeks! 4 intervals and 4 combos + core work. I keep using the mirror as motivation.

But moreso, I'm really proud of all of you for being such fan-freaking-tastic inspirations! Whether it's starting Insanity or bumping up mileage on the treadmill - you are such amazing role models! Keep it up!!!

You'll be able to do crane eventually! I can hold it for all of 2-3 seconds now. lol.

Congrats on eating healthy!
I have a whole mouth full of sweet teeth, also. I try and keep a stock of protein bars so I can grab one when I have a craving. laugh

You're doing amazing!

Legs & Back + Insanity Cardio Abs + Yoga . . . done

Last week when I did this combo, I really had to push myself & wasn't feeling it at all. That was not the case today! I increased my weights & reps and feel GREAT!! drinker

Where is everyone today?

So I did something different today. I didn't wake up in time to get yoga finished. I was looking forward to it too! But I did the forwardbends on AM yoga. Going to do it on Stretch day.

Later in the afternoon though I did Jillian Michael's Banish Fat. I really wanted to test my HRM and was pleasently surprised. (583 cals!) I did find a major annoyance in the workout though. In P90X, you can tell everyone is actually WORKING and has a personality. That's not the case in BFBM. The girls are obviously not giving their all and one has a constant, irritating smile on her face. laugh

I'm so tempted to do Plyo next week during recovery to see how many cals I burned, but we'll see. Would that be a good or bad idea?

That's funny about the girls. That's what I love about P90X, Insanity, etc. -- there's no doubt everyone is working HARD!

I wouldn't do Plyo next week. Your body needs a break. You'll get plenty of chances to play with your HRM. wink

Legs and Back + ARX + AMYoga.

Sandy: Yeah, I was thinking about that. I was really pumped yesterday. But I think when it comes to next week and waking up and asking myself if I really want to do plyo when I don't have to... nah, lol.

Well, I didn't do so hot yesterday. I didn't have time to do Legs & Back as scheduled (organic chem exam + 4 hour volunteer shift + essay + best friend in town, you get the idea), and I gave in to the alfredo the dark pasta at Oregano's. Gah. Well, today is a new day! And I'll just make yesterday my rest day. I needed it.

That's hilarious about the Jillian Michael's video. Have you ever done any workout tape with Denise Austin? My favorite line during pilates was, "Open up your chest. . . [awkward silence]. . . open up your heart." heart
