It would be great if the mobile app allowed users to use the GPS and actually track the exercise that is being done. For instance I am a backpacker/hiker. It would be great if the app would allow me to "track" my 3.7 mile after work hikes, determine speed, distance, elevation changes and then using my age, height, weight present me with an accurate calorie burned count.
Currently I use certain apps for tracking distance and time and speed but nothing that does what i would like to see.
So far your app/site is leaps and bounds ahead of other similar site/apps and that is why I am using it.
Just a suggestion!
Thanks.

runkeeper.com or runkeeper from the app store does that... i don't remember if it takes into account your age/weight/sex, but i use it and as a 140 lb female the calorie burn is within 50 calories of my HRM.

I use MapMyRUN and have had good results so far. I had to do a couple of fiddly things to get it to be more accurate, but the information you can look up on the website is a lot more thorough than any other app I have looked at.

I use mapmyrun (mapmyride) frequently in the background, but honestly I bike, so I'm paying attention to my bike computer and HRM a lot more than the GPS.

I agree, this would be a great feature. If not MFP, then it would be nice if they partner with a company that can transfer the information directly to MFP similar to how FitBit or the others do. That actually might be more practical.
