TOPIC: Facebook friends

Hi I was just thinking it would be really awesome if you made this app so you could connect with your friends on facebook with the click of a button instead of having to invite them individually by email address

I dont really care to have my facebook friends here.....just saying...Guess it would be fine if there was an option to disable this..

On the MFP homepage there is an ad for facebook and if you're already logged into facebook the cookies on mfp tell you which one of your fb friends has liked MFP on FB which means they have an account here.

I don't want it/ connect MFP with Facebook either. My weight loss journey and fitness lifestyle is pretty personal and I've found that most people I know are either not interested in or totally annoyed by my talking about it. Thus I keep Fb for "normal" stuff and MFP for my health/fitness stuff. I think it's simpler that way.

This. Times a million. I don't want all my real life friends all up in my weight loss business. It's bad enough to have my husband knowing about it, worrying about what he'll think of my food, whether or not I weigh more or less than him, etc.

^^^ THIS ^^^

What I like most about MFP is that it's all health/fitness related. I'm all for keeping MFP and FB completely separate.

I am also in the school of thought of keeping my personal life and weight loss journey SEPARATE.

well my family is on there other than that it is getting obsolete. And MFP is fine the way it is, could use a few less adds.

Agreed. I think if MFP linked with Facebook I would probably start to feel terrible about myself again. Weird, yeah, but it's too personal for me to be sharing with people on Facebook. Plus, the people here are more understanding and actually care. FB people...they don't give two hoots!

I keep them totally seperate; as has been mentioned, I don't want any of them to know how/what I'm doing.. this is for me! I'm on here wayyyyy more than FB lately anyway lol

I have one Facebook friend on here and that is good enough. This is the first site where I have made new friends that were not from Facebook, Myspace, or other social networking sites. I did have a link from here to Facebook that showed my progress but it has not been posting to my wall in several days. It is just as well. I like the separateness of my account here from other accounts.

I don't want my FB friends on here either... I'd like to make new friends from this site who have similar goals, but my friends and family who I haven't met through MFP for the most part don't really care about my weight loss efforts and I don't want to involve them in it. :)

I find my friends on FB don't like to hear about my running or workouts. They get tired of it .. so my main site is Dailymile but use this, when I'm motivated, to record my eating (it tends to be very hard to do though).

I must say though, I do let it post my losses on FB, because of that at least 4 people have joined MFP to get healthy, so it is not all bad just mostly

i vote for keeping them separate. i think it would bring a lot of negativity to the site. There is nothing against you posting on your fb your interest in adding some fb friends but i can see why most people don't want the same social circle. facebook is like a bucket of crabs and everyone tries to pull everyone else down, here isn't like that (at least not for me).

I like the fact that MFP is self contained. Losing weight is very personal. I feel as thogh every time I talk about it in real life I jinx myself and make it harder.
