TOPIC: Cannot create a personal food item

August 02, 2012 19:54
I have tried SIX times now to create a new food. It keeps telling me to enter a serving size, even AFTER I have one. I have tried in ounces, I have tried in grams. I exited completely out of the site, came back, and tried again. IT keeps telling me to enter a valid serving size. WTF??? Isn't 3 oz a valid serving of HAM????? Or 85 grams??? Seriously? I am a little frustrated. None of the ham choices already available match up with the nutritional info of the ham currently in my fridge.

It's a problem with the error message. When you fail to enter something in the servings per container block you're told "please enter a valid serving SIZE" which doesn't tell you to look at the servings per container. You can technically enter 1 in the servings per container and it will create the food.
To create a food you require 3 items.
Serving size - the 3 ounces or whatever you're using

Servings per container - how many 3 ounce servings do you get out of the package you bought?

Calories - the rest of the nutrition info technically "can" be left blank but if you're going to do that please don't bother sharing with the database, we've got enough incomplete items in the database

So
IE a 100 gram serving item
comes in a 454 gram package

serving size - 100 grams
servings per container 4.54
calories etc as per the label
