I have a suggestion. I have noticed SO many bad entries in the database and have to look through three or four (maybe more) versions of a food until I find one that is correct. If I don't eat that food again for a few weeks or a month, I will have to do that same thing again the next time. I would like if there was a way to mark foods as being a "favorite", or something like that, so I don't have to sift through the garbage every time I search for a food.

Another way to handle this would be to automatically bring the results I have used before to the top of my search results.

Thanks!

if you edit the food items to match the label you have in front of you it's flagged as a "my food" and shows in that list for future use. Not sure if there's a limit to how many "my foods" you can have but it weeds out some of the junk

I guess that is one way around it. On the flip side, there are items in the db that are correct so I don't usually do that. I would rather pick a correct one and call it a day.

You don't have to edit it to save it in my foods, going to the edit window and saving it is enough (I just did it with Raisin Bran), went to the edit point and saved it without changes. Now it's listed in my foods (but its not an item I can delete as it's part of the general database, only "private" my foods can be deleted)

Don't get me wrong, it's the suggestions forum so go for it on suggesting. Just a possible way within the system as it exists to "do" what you're seeking.

I would love to have a favorites tab. Even though you can add it to the "my foods" section I usually add things to that tab of my own that I find at work (most of the foods here have a little nutrition card above them) and things that I make myself. It would be nice to be able to click a button while looking through the database to save it as a favorite item. Maybe a little star button or something :)

I would like to be able to change the goal percentage of carbs, fat, and protein per day. Right now I think it is set at 55% carb, 30% fat, and 15% protein. I really like this site and the database of foods is great but I am trying to lose fat without losing muscle. This requires eating a higher percentage of protein in the day. I shoot for 45% carb, 25% fat, and 30% protein. Is there any way to implement that? Thanks.

That you can already do
My home > goals > change goals > custom
make the changes (fat carbs and protein values in 5% increments) will always equal 100% so when you decrease one one of the others will increase by the same amount.
Once you're done with your changes click the "change goals" button and it should save the changes you made. It may not if you don't leave a saturated fat goal and not sure which other fields will cause it to return to default values, I'll "assume" that any that have a value in there when you view it must still have a value when you're done.

Yes to what Steve originally said (don't know why this thread got so off track) I posted a very similar suggestion 6 days ago.

There are 3 things that I think you should add to the database.

1 - let me mark a food as a Favorite. That means that I use it and I trust the data. I then want to be able to do a search on just my favorites. I know that some people may use the recent foods tab to approximate this feature but what if I want to find something I know I used 3 months ago? It would be so far down on the recent foods list I would never find it.

2 - let me mark a foods as untrusted. I've determined that an entry in the database has bogus data so don't ever show it to me in search results again. You might be able to use this to weed the database. When a high level of users mark an entry this way you might consider deleting it.

3 - let me search my recent foods list. I know I found a good entry for portobello mushrooms a few weeks ago after searching through many incomplete entries. Make it easy for me to find it again.

I think the interface could be improved, On the web version you could show the nutritional info coincident with selecting the item. No need to have to click a button to see it. You have the space.
