Glad it worked for you Kelly. I was explaining it to my husband this morning. I said, I keep tricking myself and I'm stupid enough to fall for it everytimelaugh I'm glad you were able to make yesterday a better day.

It's funny, all this talk we had about butt kicking. Last night in my pool class, the lady behind me accidently kicked me in the butt. I turned and smiled at her and said thanks... I need a good butt kicking. She didn't know how serious I was.

It started out as a good day again. I did 40 minutes on the elliptical and I have my ipod for a walk at lunch if Mother Nature holds out for me. Tonight is housework night, or as I call it "fun night". It always sounds a lot better than housework, which we all hate. I started off with a good breakfast, brought a healthy lunch and snacks and my daughter is cooking tonight, with guidelines as to what dinner is, so I should be good there too!

Another successful day is planned!

Thanks for all your encouragement, guys! It was just what I needed!

Vicky, it was a good class last night, wasn't it? We had new toys! These crazy red cage-like things you put your hands in to paddle through the water for more resistance - I felt like a gladiator on Halloween!!! I know exactly who kicked your butt!!! I was in the sauna with her later and she comment on kicking you and hoping you weren't too offended - little does she knowlaugh She was saying that she has been coming to this class for awhile and it's so funny how we all scope out our own little section of the pool and claim our territory.

Tonight I am going to head to the gym. On another thread we have been talking about the eliptical, so I want to give it a try and do some weights before I jump into the pool for my laps.

I haven't gotten the Wii Active out again yet, but I did find that it wouldn't register the squats for me. I can't get the strap high enough on my leg, so I am going to make a velcro extender to put on it and see if that makes the difference - I can't scroll back far enough in this thread, while I am typing this, to see who was asking, but I'll let you know.

Carmen and others...keep lurking, or just bump to say hi! glasses glasses glasses I figure he's a good lurking smiley....

Vicky, I'm jealous....no one in my house will cook but me grumble , but then again...I don't have to change the oil in my own car either....

Have a good one, gang!

Hello everyone! How's the day going??

I'm doing well today. Candy is still here at work grumble , but I've successfully reprogrammed my brain. When I think about that candy up there....I make by brain think of the word "poison". Its poison to me. Rat poison. How can they leave poison sitting around like that? I'm trying to use these thoughts and the word poison to do like a negative-association game with myself.

Sort of like when I quit smoking one of the things I did was put a big rubberband around my wrist. When I had a craving, I snapped it a couple of times. That helped my brain associate the craving with a (slight) pain, instead of the 'pleasure' thoughts I had in there subconsciously.

Maybe I'll try that tomorrow if I start to waiver again. Cant you just see me running around the office...drooling and wild-eyed....craving chocolate...sniffing out candy jars.....snapping my wrists and muttering "poison...poison...poison"....I'd say I could kiss that raise goodbye for sure!!

I had problems with the Wii Active too. It wasn't that I couldn't get it high enough... I just couldn't lunge deep enough. The person on the TV just stands and loosk around waiting. I do like the boxing on it and the dance moves are fun, if not a little bit weird.

Have fun on the elliptical. Don't expect too much at first, it will kick your butt. I have been using it since April and can now get some time on it. At first I thought I was pretty hopeless on it. As well, if you go backwards (back peddling) instead of forwards, it works different muscles.

I am envious that you have a pool at your gym, that is one thing that I would love. It is a pain to make a special trip to the city gym and work with the times that they have lane swimming.

I did like those hand cage thingies. I said I was Wonder Woman with them. Was that woman claiming her territory by kicking me? That's pretty agressive!

My daughter has just started cooking meals. I think as she gets closer to going away to school, she wants to learn more. She asks a lot of questions as to how I prepare things and is now working on the timing of getting everything ready at the same time. It is pretty basic cooking but she does a good job.

I have a question if you're willing to share.

I am 39 yrs old and am 5' 5.5" tall. I have my goal weight at 150 lbs, which my doctor thinks may be a bit low for me. In my head I want to be 138 lbs....but that is too aggressive according to my doctor.

I'm wondering if anyone is willing to share just your height and weight goal. How did you set your goal?

I am 5'10" and my goal is 190. I set it there because I thought 150 lbs was a huge amount to lose and I didn't even think I would get this far. How is that for starting off on the wrong foot?

I do believe that when I get to 190, I will want to lose more and think that 170 would be good. That is in the healthy BMI range but near the top end of it. When I look at both my brothers who are very healthy and at a good weight and I see their bone structure ( Mine is still somewhat buried), we are a farily big boned family. I don't think I could get to 160 at all, I wouldn't look right. My big brother is 6' 6" and weighs 205 but he has always been thin. My other brother is 6'2 and weighs about 200. I don't know where I got the chubby genesgrumble

Vicki no no! She wasn't claiming her territory, she was talking about how that side of the pool is more crowded, but because she is so used to being there it feels odd to do the logical thing and just move over to the other side! No agression intendedbigsmile

I'm 5'8" and according to my assessment, my goal should be 164 lbs. I think that's pretty optomistic, but we'll see how things go over the next year... I refuse to set that in MFP - I'm kind of like Vicki with her exercise trick, I pick a small goal and then just keep bumping it as I get close.

Kelly...I'm at a loss just imagining the visual.....a little shock therapy and you will forget the whole thingohwell

Geez you are lucky... I blew through a lot of calories this morning before I realized I was thirsty. I went to the gym and didn't drink much water there, didn't have any with breakfast and then when I came to work at 8, I was hungry. I had my mid morning snack early and then at mid morning I ate the spare one in my desk. Then I clued in that I had not drank a lot of water. DUH

Hi guys. My goal is to reach 170, eventually. I've never, even at my happiest, been smaller than that.

I blew it today., Don't want to talk about it. It sucks.

Had a good ride though. I think Sully is very close to being 100%. He wanted to run today, but I wouldn't let him. He snorted at me. LIke What's your problem, sister?

I gave him a couple of apples from you guys. bigsmile

Maybe tomorrow will be better....

Howdy, howdy!

Paddlemom - That was me that was asking about the Wii Fit...I can't get the strap to stay on my leg and the squats things are the ones that really throw me. It's like Vicky said (Vicky, that was you, wasn't it?) there is a lady that stands there waiting for you to get moving. I'm hoping when I drop some weight it'll work better. Good luck!

Bonkers - sorry to hear you had a crappy day girl. At least you and Sully had a nice ride, even if you did get a little "back talk" from Sully laugh I'm thinking about you and sending happy, positive thoughts your way my friend.

You know Kell, I'm 5'8" and 35 years old and I'm thinking 170 would be schnazzy. I've got so far to go, I'm just focused on getting to 299 right now. YEE HA!

I've got to get my butt moving on homework and I can't seem to pull it together. I've got 3 classes left until I get my associates degree and I've hit the wall. I've got to start busting through these walls...there are 3 Great Walls of China in front of me except mine are named "Weight Loss", "School", and "Motivation". WHERE ARE THOSE SIZE 11's??sad

Have a good night all, I'm off to tackle that homework wall!

Off to bed - and we'll see if I can get out of it in the morning!!!!

Ange....are you looking for a butt kicking?? Well, sweetie, today is a brand new day! Forget yesterdays crappiness and start fresh today. The power is in YOUR hands to change your life. Break it down to morning then afternoon then evening and strive to make each one healthy. Get out that Hot Bod box...get on your recumbant...go for a walk in those beautiful areas you've told us about.....you can do this!!! We're all behind you!!!!!

Becky...jump those hurdles!!! Get thru those walls! They are nothing compared to the awesomeness that is YOU!! Up and at 'em, girly!!! Get wall-smashing!!!!

Shari....Great job on the elliptical!!! drinker Keep going!!!!

I did not end up shooting/eating a moose last nite...I did however have a few extras and still ended up with a surplus of 573 calories. I looked and that puts me at over 1000 calorie deficit for yesterday based on my bmr....do you think my stubborn body would give me a stinkin' lb?? NO!!! I'm 1 lb away from hitting 90 lbs and want it so bad I can taste it!!!!!!

Must run...busy at work today...

You all have a wonderful day...be strong, be resiliant, be couragous and be kind!!

Yay Shari...another elliptical convert. I love it and I even have my favourite one staked out at the gym. There is a guy that uses my elliptical sometimes so I give him the hairy eyeball while I go on another.

Ange... I have size 11's. Bend over sister you are getting a butt kicking. Sometimes talking about the bad days helps us analyze where we screwed up. Yesterday morning for me was because I didn't drink enough water. That was an eye opener. Today is a good day to get out there and do a lot of exercise and to eat properly. Just do it!

Becky...be faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, and jump tall buildings in a single bound. You will succeed. Sometimes the first step is the hardest one and the actual doing isn't so bad.

I worked out with my trainer this morning and it was awesome. I was doing lat rows with 70 lbs on each side. Then I was doing leg presses with 175lbs!!! I felt so powerful today. Tonight, my walking club is going and I think I will join them. That is always a good work out and great company.

Have a great day
Vicky

Hi gang, good to see you al lthis morning. I need to get to the gym, so just a few mintues here. I am 50 years old, and 5'10/5" tall. My goal weight is 195. Its about 15 pounds heavier than the so called gold standard, but I have big frame - size 12 or 13 shoes, wrist is nearly 8 inches. We will see when I get down there if I still need to lose more. Interesting question about the height thing Shari - I know that my feet grew as a result of my added weight, basically my arch flattening out! embarassed So, my doc is hopeful it will spring back some. So far, I think maybe it has a tiny bit.

Vicky, you are powerful! Go girl!

Kelly - back away from the chocolate. SLOWLY put the candy jar down - no one is going to get hurt...... laugh

Well everyone, be good to yourselves, like Vicky said, its a new day! Beautiful weather here. Be safe.

Good for you Debbie!

There are different schools of thought on xrsz calories and the need to eat them. Many of the folks on this thread have experienced that if you dont eat at least some of them, you may actually stall your weight loss....just letting you know to be aware of your body's reactions to it and be ready to tweak your calorie intake if needed.

Keep going, you're doing great!

My walking club got cancelled tonight sad so I am going to sit by the fire and relax. After an hour with the trainer this morning I can afford to do that. I have kept withing my calories very well today and I am feeling good.

There was the S word here today (snow) ...just a bit a flurry and it didn't stay...but it started. It os supposed to be warmer this weekend though.

Have a great evening

I had a better day today. Spent the morning working on my fencing, walking up and down hill after hill. Then I came home and baked a loaf of banana bread, 3 loaves of apple bread and 2 apple cakes. Then made chicken and dumplings for dinner for my brother and sister in law and 14 month old nephew. In case y'all are wondering about all the baking, we freeze the loaves and cakes in order to take advantage of the apples while they're in season. They will benefit three different families. I also pull them out to give as gifts to friends and neighbors through the holidays. In other words, I don't get to eat them!

It was a busy day, though. My feet are VERY tired! And the house smells really good. bigsmile

Thanks for the inspirational words, Kell, I thought about what you said all day, and I think I've got my head back on straight. Thanks to you and all those big feet up my a$$ bigsmile Thanks guys!

Thanks for the input...I am thinking if I am going to exercise everyday like I did maybe my cals should be lowered...pluse since I don't exactly how much I am burning i don't want to overshoot. I put my cals in on MFP and says usally 500 -600 more calories...to my 1640 that is over 2000 that just seems wayyyy to much.

Right now it seems to be working, i have been dropping weight....if stalls i may go up on my calories, or do what someone said and one day to higher cals then next day lower...I have a long way in front of me I am sure I will figure it out :)

Vicky - sorry your walking club got cancelled

bonkers - wow lots of baking.....i bet you are tired....
