Pretty please with Stevia or agave nectar on top?
Can you add a function to subscribe, or follow, or like, or whatever you want to call it, topics under a separate heading from "my topics?" Or if they are added to "my topics," not have subscribing push it back to the top of the listings?
A lot of people post "bump" to just add that topic to their list of "my topics." The problem with that, is then that topic is pushed back to the top of the "my topics" list of everyone who's posted in it.... and if you're someone who posts a lot (yeah, I'm chatty!) then all of your "my topics" end up being filled with topics with the last three pages of posts being nothing more than someone typing, "bump."
Alternately, a way to unsubscribe or remove topics from "my topics" would be nice.

since you can't subscribe to them really, you can't unsubscribe currently.
Posting in the thread is enough to flag it for my topics, and the system just looks at which 25 threads you have posted in that have the most recent activity. Only way to change that would be to delete the post, but we don't have that option.
If you are posting something like bump just so you can come back to it later you could bookmark the thread on your device/ computer then it's only bookmarked for you to look back on until you decide to remove the bookmark.

That's the problem. You can't. As long as people keep posting in it, it will keep showing up under "my topics."

Yeah, there are lots of features in the vBulletin format for forums, which is what most forums use. There is a stubborn adherence here to a format that isn't really very user-friendly.
It seems there could be a lot more resources devoted to database and functionality/content if the format was switched to vBulletin, and lots of people are already familiar with it. I belong to other forums and they are much easier to manage than this one. I just don't spend much time here anymore.

So that's the reason for the "bump"?! In "real" forums bumps are used to keep a thread alive when nobody has posted on it in a while. The way it is used here is annoyingly selfish lazy behavior. Create a folder in your bookmarks for MFP Forum Threads and bookmark the topic there. Learn to Internet please!

Yes! Please add thread subscription and the option to receive emails when people respond to a thread you're subscribed to..as well as the option to unsubscribe to threads! This is seriously so commonplace I'm surprised it hasn't already been done.

This is a great idea that is a standard feature on many boards/forums. It would make keeping track of good threads easier and improve the signal to noise in threads by removing all the bump posts.
Please make this happen!

Love vB too. I've been pushing it on here for years. It would pay for itself instantly if they allowed members to have a custom forum signature for a small fee. They would have seriously eliminated so many of the issues they've had if they would have just switched a long time ago.
