when using the website to input food i feel like it would be nice if at the very least the calories was listed when you click the item along with the serving amount and total servings utilized, alot of the items dont match specifically and i look for what has the same caloric value which means i have to switch from database find it then search again from the add area, or why not allow you to add from the database area as well?

When it moves to the right and you can tell it how much of the item to log... directly below the food name on the right is the "nutritional info" link click that and you can see what the calories and other info is for the food prior to logging.
Definitely agree they need an add to diary button in the database. It already exists for another section IE if you go to food > recipes when you mouse over a recipe line one of the buttons that shows up is add to diary, that function moved to the database (as it brings up a window where you tell it which meal to log it to, which is the usual "con" to linking it from the database page, you haven't told it which meal to add it to) would solve it.

also need a correction button. Sometimes I put things in wrong. and inadvertently say add. At least I haven't found one if there is. or if you get a food that doesn't match. And yes some don't . I have found quite a few foods that don't match the manufacturer's label. odd?

To edit food items in your diary
If you're on the computer you can edit the quantity of any food logged in your diary. IE for snacks today I have strawberries - raw 300g logged click on the word strawberries opens the edit window to select how many servings of what serving size and can even change which meal it is logged under To edit food items in the database (only for user entered food items, MFP supplied ones we can't edit) when you click that "nutritional info" link it asks you "is this info correct" if you click yes it counts as a verification and you can log as is, if you click NO it asks you if you want to correct the item.
