My next run is the 20 Minute run also..... Ai yi yi. I was thinking of doing it tomorrow, but Zumba tonight kicked my butt..... We'll see how I feel in the morning. We are supposed to get a bunch of snow tonight, might be a good day to just stay in bed......noway

If not tomorrow, then Friday for sure. Looking forward to having it done! tongue

I hear ya! I am nervous about it, though I am sure I can do it! smile

iplayoutside - Perhaps it was a different stride or something. I am glad it went away though. Just relax tonight and do C25K tomorrow. I hope the pain doesn't come back! flowerforyou

IPlay, my knees do that sometimes. I am not sure what it is. A sharp piercing pain with increasing intensity, then it usually stops. I usually back off my pace a little bit until it stops, and then continue, assuming it does stop. Grrrrrr. I hate when a run doesn't go the way you want it to, but there is always tomorrow! wink

W7D2 went off without a hitch. No pain in the knee. Although had a litle trouble until inertia took over. I was a little sluggish from the work out last night.

Steph, I ran 20 minutes today too! I was so happy. The last bit of the first 10 minutes was starting to kill me because it is about 3 minutes of up hill, but after that it was easy! Well, not easy, but doably hard! Yay to you and yay to me! Next week looks really easy! tongue

IPlay, I am not a fist pump kind of girl, but if I was, I would have done it. I did have a grin from ear to ear though! bigsmile

hi all,
sounds like your all doing great this week.

I had a slow start, but I'm picking up speed for the rest of the week. I will have to run both days this weekend to reach my goal for 25 miles this week. But it is do-able!!!!wink
congrat's to all of you that reached your goals of 20min... running this week. That is a great accomplishment... I remember how hard that was.

Good luck to you all.

Since my schedule won't allow me to run tomorrow. I finished up W7C25K tonight. By far the best run of the week. Now that I'm done I know I'm ready for W8. Which is weird, typicly when i run in the evening it's a real struggle. Today was a double header too, I did weights this morning (lets put it this way, I have a 532 calorie pork chop for dinner and I'm still 250 calories under goal). Now my work out week is done. Time for some rest.

Have a good weekend.

Thanks! Yep, my first race will be that date on the ticker. I have been trying to find races this winter, but it seems that this year no one near me wants to host them! (In previous years there have been hang over races on January 1st, and other races in the cold months). So I am keeping my eye out for ones sooner than 5 months from now, but at least I have one to target! tongue

Tabby - YAY great job! I know what you mean! 3 minutes of my run was uphill too. That was in the last 5 minutes of the 20 minute run too, so I was losing some steam. laugh

nicolee516 - thanks for the encouragement!

I'm still on my trip - wedding with lots of food! Including BBQ - which I just can't turn down...

Anyhow, the hotel pool is closed - so they recommended a local hospital's fitness center that has not one, not two, not three, but 4 indoor pools! (including the most awesome hot tub) So, since my reward for getting on the treadmill is my cooldown in the pool, that did the trick!

I've decided to be a C2 5k "retread" - starting with week 3 - I'm starting back with intervals ton increase my base pace. So now, I'm trying to go faster - 6.0 for 90 seconds 5.0 for 3 minutes. I think this will work for me for a while. I wasn't having much luck finding another program to move forward to - and this one worked well for me, so why stop just because I finished all 9 weeks???

I feel much better being back on track. At first I was frustrated I was struggling with the shorter time, but the increased intensity is much harder for me. It's amazing how a little faster pace makes my ability to sustain it fall off like a rock!

SavvySteph- That's cool about hte winter races, I used to live close to Reading PA and they had a winter series, it was a 5k or 10k you could run. I saw that you were in Jersey, but that's probably too far for you just to do a 5k. But if you are interested, it's called Shiver by the River and you can find the info either on
www.pagodapacers.com
or
www.pretzelcitysports.com

Pretzelcity might give you other info on races too. They may time closer to you. Dunno

JPrice- NICE!!! Good Job!!! Did you get to decide which pool you could use?? That's a great idea about the c25k. You could also go to www.runnersworld.com and get information from that website. You could also use their smartcoach. I use that alot!

Off to some breakfast and then a 6miler an 1 1/2 from now!

Thanks for the information! Reading is about an hour and twenty minutes away (I only live 30 minutes from Philly). I will keep an eye out. smile

Thanks Nicole! It will definitely be an incentive. The series is a no frills (no t-shirts), so it is only $5 / race. They said they have prizes though, but at least at the beginning of the winter, I doubt I will win any. laugh

Day one of Week 6 today. It was disappointingly easy. LOL laugh Next week looks hard though. sick I might have to go down to the rail trail in town for the longer runs. What I wouldn't give to run on a flat surface for more than 30 seconds at a time.

I am not signed up for any races as yet, and I am sure that there aren't any near me in the coming months. I am just running to run at this point. There are some races next summer though, and I will definitely be signing up for a 5k. I can't wait!

I did W6D1 too. It was easy, except I added a challenge by working on lengthening my stride. Uphill. laugh So, my HRM was screaming at me and I was panting like crazy. laugh Next week shouldn't be too bad. Especially since we will be able to run 25 minutes after D3 this week! flowerforyou We can do it! happy

That's funny, I make myself do longer strides up hill too, because then you can take slightly slower ones and feel like you are pushing yourself up the hill. It is all freaking up hill! Both ways! LOL. Now I know how my poor horses feel when I push them to work harder! tongue

Did W8D1 this Morning. For me the hardest part of any week is the first 3 minutes of the first run. Once I'm passed that I'm usually fine. I noticed when I'm in the middle of a run I start to drag my feet, and I start looking down. So I've been focusing on keeping my head up, and making my stride count. Which I think will help with the speed.

Really once you get passed the interval part of the C25K you don't notice the difference as much. 28 minutes felt the same as 20. Of course the nice weather has helped. This was my 2nd run in a row in shorts and t-shirt.

well, my first 5k race was interesting - I started too far back in the pack and never got the right rythm going - I was unfamiliar with the course so I started my push waaaaaay to late - finished at 27:02 - could have been much better if i would have just trusted my training - oh well, live and learn

Next race is Polar Bear run for alternative "choices" schools - its a great cause - this time I am going to do the six week training program like I should and we will see what happens

Congrats to all the c25k'ers out there - you guys and gals are doing really great - going to try to get some distance increase now - i want to be runnning 5 miles by Thanksgiving.......

Having some knee issues - if anyone know about knee fixes please let me know - the pain was in the front of my knee and i have been wearing one of those band braces - now me kneed hurts on the inside top part.......maybe I'm getting old noway
