What kind of crockpot does everyone have? I want to get one but can't afford an expensive one. Any recommendations?

I have a small rival that I bought at a going to school sale for $17.00 at Best Buy. It has no special features and I love it.

Bump!
I always like to do roast in the crock pot. Pot roast 2-3 lbs chuck roast brown both sides in skillet layer in crockpot potatoes carrots onions salt & pepper to taste put meat on top then I pour a can of rotel on top -this is the kicker - it adds so much flavor. Put on low 6-8 hours.

QUOTE: I love pulled pork in the crock pot. I use tenderloin (it's a little more expensive, but leaner and easier to use). Just put a loin or two in with BBQ sauce and cook on low/med for 8 hours. I used one bottle of sauce for two loins and then I usually add a squirt to my sandwich. It's great in pitas. You should try cooking the pork in diet rootbeer, and then add your bbq sauce after you pull apart your pork. |

Dump soup (cuz' all you do is dump in the stuff from the cans) This is an old WW recipe. This doesn't necessarily need to go in the crock-pot as all ingredients are already cooked,
dump all together and heat, super easy and tasty! each can undrained: 1 can shoepeg corn 1 can veg-all 2 can diced tomatoes (if you can find the chili ready kind that's good!) 1 can black beans 1 can progresso 99 % fat free ministrone

I like to make Turkey Vegetable Soup (or you could make Beef or Chicken soup or you could just make vegetable soup!)
1 lb ground turkey (browned) 1 package frozen mixed vegetables 1 can diced tomatoes 1 can diced potatoes 1 can tomato sauce 1 pkg McCormick Beef Stew Seasoning Water or Broth Add all to crock pot and simmer on low all day. You can also add some pasta, barley, or beans to this as well. We get 2 meals out of it (there's 3 of us, but my husband eats like he's eating for 2) I also like to crumble up cornbread into this.

Just made this last night. Sounds like a lot of ingredients, but easy to make & delicious:
Latin chicken & blackbeans w/sweet potatoes 3 lbs. bone in chicken thighs w/skin removed 2 15oz. cans blackbeans drained & rinsed 2 lbs. sweet potatoes peeled & cut in 2 in. cubes 3 cloves garlic minced 1 red bell pepper chopped cilantro 1/2 c. salsa 1 c. chicken broth lime wedges 2 tsp. ground cumin 1 tsp. paprika 1/2 tsp. ground allspice Sprinkle chicken thighs w/ 1/2 tsp. cumin (or to your taste), salt & pepper. Cook in hot skillet until brown on both sides (approx. 5 mins per side). Place chicken on plate. In same skillet, combine salsa, chicken broth, remaining cumin, paprika & allspice (do not heat). Place sweet potatoes, red pepper & blackbeans in crockpot, layer chicken on top, & cover w/sauce. Cook on low for 8 hours. Sprinkle w/cilantro & serve w/lime wedges. Makes 6 servings. |

This one is from the Crock-Pot recipe card collection 2007
Simply Delicious Pork 1.5 lbs boneless pork loin cut into 6 pieces or 6 boneless thick porkchops 4 medium Golden Delicious apples, sliced 3 tablespoons packed brown sugar 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon salt Place pork in the crock-pot and cover with apples Combine brown sugar, cinnamon and salt in small bowl, sprinkle over apples. Cover and cook on LOW 6 to 8 hours. Makes 6 servings about 300 calories per serving Serve with cooked carrots and rice I made this tonight and everyone liked it. Enjoy! JAM PS: I added about a half a cup of water to keep it from sticking.

Pork & potatoes
4 pork chops (with or without bone) 3 lg. potatoes peeled & cubed (yukon or baking) 1 can corn 1 onion cut up 1 can cream of mushroom soup Put potatoes, corn, & onion in crockpot. Sprinkle w/garlic powder & pepper to taste (or whatever seasonings you like. I don't like salt). Season both sides of pork chops w/garlic powder & pepper and layer them on top of potato mixture. Spread can cream of mushroom soup on top of pork. Cover & cook 7-8 hours. You don't need to add liquid because it will make it's own.
