TOPIC: Dental Work

I leave in 5 hours to get the remainder of my top teeth pulled. I had 5 done about a month ago, so that should be 11 tomorrow. The first time was a nightmare so I'm raelly not looking forward to this! But the recovery was not too bad as far as eating goes. I was able to eat normal after a few days since I could just eat on the other side. I will most likely have 4 weeks of healing before I will be able to get my top dentures. And this time, I will have NO teeth on top to eat real food and it is not comfy trying to eat without them (as I've learned on the one side they pulled from last time). I don't really know what to do as far as nutrition for this month or 2... I know all the standby foods, yogurt, ice cream, cottage cheese, mashed potatoes, soup etc. Is it going to be really tough for me to get my calories in without being unhealthy? And if so, is it going to cause my body to go into starvation mode even though I'm eating the best I can? Really worried about that!

And if anyone has any ideas for eating I may not have thought of, please feel free to suggest them. But I don't have a blender or a microwave LOL. I'm nervous enough about getting this process done =/

Hey, slightly different situation but when I had my braces put on in Jan I couldn't eat anything solid for a few Weeks.
It doesn't have to mean that you fill yourself with junk, but it does take a little more planning to meet the recommended calories.
I had porridge for breakfast or weetabix, with a protein shake. Lunch was soup, Mac n cheese, mince based meals, and yoghurts etc. dinner was same pretty much. Protein shakes were good as meat and most other protein sources were impossible to eat!
Also drink milk for extra cals. If I think of anything else I'll let ya know!
Hope your procedure goes well and you heal up quickly. Good luck.

Thank you :) The procedure was a piece of cake this time. A different dentist makes a world of difference! I'm pretty sore, but I've attempted eating quite a few things, but it's just so hard. Tomorrow I will have to take it a little more easy. I had yogurt shortly after I came home, that was okay. SpaghettiOs for lunch, not very nutritious I know lol, but that went over well. I tried to have some mashed potatoes for dinner, but it was too thick, so I just made some oatmeal and it was okay. Anything I can't just swallow is going to have to go for the time being. My gums are too sore :(
