Get rid of the button 'Complete This Entry'
It's too easy to accidentally hit that button if you're new or especially on mobile apps. Very annoying as it automatically posts the mistaken press to my wall and no way to undo it. Just have the system auto-complete food entries at midnight, no need for a human to do this. You can leave the entry process as it is now where you can still log food in for a previous day in case I may have missed something. Several other people have mentioned how annoying and unnecessary this button is. Drop it like it's hot.

I've accidentally pressed it now and again - but I don't lose sleep over it.
It's easy to delete a newsfeed entry on the mobile app - just swipe over the entry and you'll see a delete button. Or leave it - what difference does it make? |

I agree. I often forget to hit complete when I'm all done eating.

If you don't like it, don't use it. Most of us like having the button.

It would be nice if there were just an option that would remove the button and auto-complete you each night at 12 as long as you made an entry for the day and logged in. I hate forgetting to hit the complete button after a perfect day of tracking. Options are nice and don't hurt anyone!

Midnight according to which time zone? Thinking aloud: Aren't system-wide updates done all at once, so who will get to be 12 midnight and who will be stuck having it updated mid-day or some other time?

I like the auto update as long as you logged something idea.. I get annoyed that I may forget to come back on at bed time and hit "complete" and it ruins a day of tracking for my friends and accountability partners to see

Even if you hit the button the next day it counts it as a consecutive day log in.

I would detest no "complete this entry" to be honest, I like to see that little "if everyday were like today...." bit, that would not appear if there was no complete bit. Keep it, or give people the option to use it or not, but delete it and those of use that like it will be without it. |

Do you people realize this button doesn't do anything except:
1) Post on your wall that you completed your diary. If you don't want it to do that, go here and change it. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/news_feed_settings 2) Tell you how much you'd weigh in 5 weeks, which is a useless feature that no one pays attention to. It doesn't keep you from logging more food after you've completed the day. It doesn't have anything to do with your days logged in. It does not do ANYTHING of significance. Many people actually USE the button because they want their friends to know they've completed their diary. If you don't want that showing up on your wall YOU ALREADY HAVE THE OPTION TO CHANGE IT. And if you press it by accident all you have to do is delete it from your news feed.

I absolutely don't mind the function of what it does, which is while I'd like it to be automated. It's not a problem of 'I don't want to press it' it's a problem of 'I accidentally press it too often.' I access the website via computer browser, Android tablet and iPhone. The mobile button is much too easy to press.
Sure I can delete it off the wall, but by then I already have a string of conversation going from friends on it asking if I only ate that much for the day, etc. Best would be an option to either do it manually or automatic. It should be obvious to the system that I've checked-in for the day if I make entries for exercise or food. Choice is good. Have setting to either enable/disable auto completion of the day.

Suggest maybe a warning..." Are you sure you want to complete today's entry"

After digging around in the settings there actually IS a way to turn this button off on Android and iPhone, only the website can't have the button turned-off as an option. So maybe the web designers can follow the mobile app developer's lead on this and incorporate it for desktop browsers.

I actually do pay attention to it now that I am on maintenance, because when I complete for the day, I *should* get "if everyday were like today, in five weeks you will weigh 135lbs" - this means that what I am eating is roughly maintenance. If it says I will be above 135lbs, I know that I can cut down slightly,, if it says below 135lbs, it means, I can consider eating more. It will not be 100% accurate, but for me, personally, I can use it as a very rough guide. Therefore, for some of us, it is very significant. |

I don't take what it tells me to heart, but I use it as a, oh crap this isn't a good way of eating, or, hey, I should keep this up! I find it helps me. A lot.

I love seeing this come up and tell me what "could be" if I stay at it. I don't use the mobile app much so I can't speak much on accidentally clicking the complete button but I have more than once clicked it on the website and then added more stuff later and then clicked it again or clicked it the previous day. I never gave a 2nd thought to it posting on my news feed with each click. If it posted some early "news" and then updated with more "news" later then it's all the same to me. I would not want to option removed completely thou.

What I was trying to say is that if there was a "system wide" update, it would happen to everyone at once, and someone would be at midnight while someone else in another part of the world would at 6am or 8pm.

the time zone settings already allow you to customize when "your" end of the day is, based on YOUR time zone settings, hitting complete this button after midnight whatever zone you are set will not post the "user completed their diary", so it doesn't "have" to end everyones day at the same time, it already doesn't.
I have my timezone set 2 hours west of me so I can log food until 2am local, if it was set to my local timezone I'd get cut off at midnight from seeing the "completed his diary"
