I began having an issue midday on the 11th. I unlinked and relinked this morning which seemed to have forced a sync. Wondering if that's a "fix" or if I will have to do the same again later.

Mine is not syncing either. It did not sync the first few days I had it either (about a week) and I did not even realize it would adjust exercise until it suddenly started doing it for a few days. Now it has stopped again.

Hi Folks,
Sorry if you've been having any issues with your fitbit data reaching our site. There are three data points that you can compare between your FitBit and MFP accounts to determine if your accounts are syncing properly. These three items are FitBit Steps, FitBit Sleep Minutes, and the FItBit Adjustment (for calories burned). You can see your Fitbit Steps and Fitbit Sleep Minutes in two places: 1. Under the "My Home" tab, click "Check-In". This will take you to a screen where you can enter in new progress measurements. This is where we record your Fitbit Steps and Fitbit Sleep Minutes. If you want to go directly to that screen you can go to this URL: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/measurements/check_in">www.myfitnesspal.com/measurements/check_in 2. You can see a graph of your Steps and Sleep Minutes by going to the "Reports" tab and choosing to graph "Progress". When you see the option to "Choose a Report" you can choose Steps or Sleep Minutes. This will give you a little graph. (Note that if you do not attach your FitBit to the wrist band and set it to stopwatch mode when you sleep, you should not expect to see any FitBit Sleep Minutes data.) If you want to verify that the Fitbit calorie adjustment is working correctly, you can compare two numbers, one on MFP (with a little math) and one on Fitbit. If you go to this page on Fitbit (www.fitbit.com/activities), you should be able to see your total calories burned under the heading "Daily Totals". This is the total calories that your Fitbit believes you've burned for any given day. If you go to this page on MyFitnessPal (http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/my_goals">www.myfitnesspal.com/account/my_goals) you should be able to see our estimate for calories burned under "Your Diet Profile" --> "Calories Burned" --> "From Normal Daily Activity". This is the estimate we created for you based on your height, weight, age, gender, activity level, etc... Add to this estimate any calories of cardio exercise you have logged for the day. If the Fitbit number is HIGHER than our estimate+exercise, we'll add a "Fitbit calorie adjustment" to account for the difference. If the number is LOWER, you will not see an adjustment for that day. The adjustment can be very helpful in fine-tuning your calorie goal, so if you're not receiving an adjustment on your active days, try lowering your "Activity Level" in your profile settings by one notch, to give the system room to adjust you "up". The steps are the most consistent item to sync, and the best way to check if your accounts are syncing properly. The next time you see step data uploaded to fitbit.com that does not arrive at the MyFitnessPal site within about 15 minutes, will you please advise us of the following? A date on which sync was delayed. The time of sync and steps data uploaded to the fitbit.com site (the sync time is shown in a sidebar in the upper right area of your dashboard) The approximate delay before the steps show up here on your MyFitnessPal account: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/measurements/check_in (or if the delay is ongoing, and longer than 15 minutes) We'll check to see if there is an issue with fitbit's site, or ours. Sorry for any inconvenience you've been experiencing. Regards, Steven MyFitnessPal Staff |

Hi!
For some reason, when I manually enter cardio exercises (June 22nd and June 23rd), I do not get any FitBit Calorie adjustment. Also, when I check the <FitBit steps> for June 23rd it does not match: June 22nd Steps in FitBit: 14250 MFP: 10239 Any idea why and how I can fix this?

I love my fitbit and MFP and thought having them both is awesome but not sure how do this exercise thing...Anyone having this problem? Or can explain??

The adjustment is based on your lifestyle setting at MFP (sedentary, active etc). The Fitbit number includes your BMR, which MFP subtracts along with the normal estimated calories for your lifestyle setting.

So do I enter my workouts as well as keep the Fitbit adjustment? or do I just have my Fitbit adjustment when it syncs? Very confusing...I don't want to miss any workout calories that I have been doing. Help is greatly appreciated.

Continue to enter your information on MyFitnessPal as you did prior to owning the Fitbit. The adjustment serves to give you the exercise calories you earned if you have NOT logged your exercise into MyFitnessPal, it is always best to log your exercise and let the Fitbit and MFP decide if you need an additional "adjustment". Hope this helps! Cheers, Scott MyFitnessPal Staff |
