If this has already been discussed I'm sorry. I often think that it would be more beneficial to have a 'favorites' section in the food log that I could put foods into at my discretion rather than the current 'frequently used". I find that the 'frequently used' and 'recent' sections tend to be random and some of my items, even though I use them daily, don't show up. I am totally not a computer tech so have no idea if this is easy to set up or not but it was just a thought.....thanks for this site. It is fantastic!!

I use the "My Meals" for my favorites so I can find them quickly. Stuff I eat every day, I don't wanna be looking for them forever. So I just post them there. You can put meals, or even just a coffee. Just in case you wanna try it in the meantime :)

thanks. I do that too for full meals but there are other things I use throughout the day that are not meals. I could put single items in there - good idea.

One setting that may help... by default your recent / most frequent lists are separated on a meal by meal basis so if you have something daily for lunch it will never show up on your dinner list as an option by default.
But there is just ONE item to click to change that functionality. Go to food > food diary > pick a meal (I'm assuming lunch) and click add food On the "add food to lunch" page (remember I assumed lunch, it'll be whatever meal you selected. RIGHT below the search box it says - again this is the DEFAULT setting "or add favorites for lunch" if you click that word lunch and change it to say "all meals" the favorite item you used daily for lunch will be available for dinner logging

Something I do for the foods not logged every single day since we can't "search" or "filter" only in the "recent foods tap":
Note: I don't share any food anymore because once I do, and then I no longer wish to eat it, for any reason, I can delete it. Once a food is shared, you can never remove it. Online doesn't bother me so much, but on my mobile app, it's always listed under "My Food". So food I shared, but only ate once, is at the top of my list. :( anyways, moving on. Ok, first I created a food item (un-shared of course) of Brand Name: "Delete below" Description: "------------------" or what ever you want for a separator. It will be the first entry for the meal. 0 calories. (Why? I'll explain below.) then I log a meal of like items. i.e. frozen vegetables. example (for any meal so long as it is empty meal to begin with) --------------------- (Delete Below, 1oz, 0 calores) Corn, Whole Golden Kernal, Frozen (great value brand, 90 grams 100 cal) Mixed Vegetables, Frozen (great value, 90 grams, 60 cal) Sweet Peas, Frozen (great value, 89 grams, 70 cal) when I am done, i save the meal as "Stock - Frozen Vegetables" Done. Then for logging, for a dinner for example add your foods then add "Stock - Frozen Vegetables" from "My Meals" which will display after the "------------------" the meal would appear logged as this: DINNER Meatloaf, (recipe, 1 serving, etc) Milk, 2%, (bordens, 1 cup, etc) --------------------- (Delete Below, 1oz, 0 calores) Corn, Whole Golden Kernal, Frozen (great value brand, 90 grams 100 cal) Mixed Vegetables, Frozen (great value, 90 grams, 60 cal) Sweet Peas, Frozen (great value, 89 grams, 70 cal) Then I delete the frozen vegetables that I didn't eat. then the "---------" entry (which makes it easy to NOT delete above the "----") it's much easier to delete food, than trying to find the one that I did eat, and confirming the nutritional value. I do this for many of my seldom eaten items. I keep these "Stock" entries small so I'm not deleting 15 items. just a few. To break down like items, for example, chips. I could have 20 in a category, or just group by flavor/style. i.e. BBQ Chips, Kettle Chips etc Also Salad Dressings (low calorie, high calorie, etc) just to keep them in small groups. I also created a salad meal. i routinely eat similar portions of cucumber, mushrooms, lettuce, but not always the same veggies every time. I could do it as a recipe, which would work if nothing changed, but takes too long to modify. But as a meal, I just delete what I didn't eat and then the "-------". Just works for me until we can actually filter "previous foods only" As I said above, I find it is easier to delete "confirmed" foods in my "Stock" meals, than searching through the many "unconfirmed" foods. I just want to log and eat. Not log, confirm the food, oops wrong values, search again, nope, search, nope, (wife's tapping her foot), search, nope, sodium is way off, search, (foods getting cold). This way, I got it. Hope this helps too. |
