I am in Australia so i've selected 'metric' as my preference for measurements - mostly i can find Grams in food options, but for exercise it's a nightmare - i have no idea how fast jogging 8mph or 5mph is, and i don't want to spend all my time looking up conversion charts!
please can we have options for exercise that use metric distances??

Yeah, this Aussie found it easier to get a pedometer. My ipod nano (the little square one, hope I called it by the right name). I adjust my weight in there, and it works out how far i have walked/run and tells me how many cals I have burned.

Generally, I fair walking pace would be 3 mph. Faster would be much more, and a slower walk would be about 2mph. I am using this by comparison of my pedometer entries with the MFP calcs. If I am doing a fair walk - leisurely, without stopping and smelling the roses for example, I put the 3mph. Hope that helps in the mean time.

+ for having metric also.

a quick way is to divide your kph measurement by 1.6 to give mph, or multiply mph by 1.6 to give kph.

Hi Just joined today and also in Aus. I would like to add myself to this request please!

The conversion is easy enough for an occasional calculation, but it would be much handier to have this done as part of the profile setting for metric.
Other sites do have this function already, but the food database is much worse which is why I am trying this site out.

Thanks!!

this this this!

It's fairly annoying having to calculate it myself: the park that I go around is 3.4km, so then I have to time myself doing it and I do intervals and it all gets very confusing and believe me, I am an arts student for a reason. Maths doesn't sit to well with me. Unless its addition or calc, for some unknown reason. But division? Someone save me.

Sooo funny! but I agree!
Ps. Walking, 3.0 mph, mod. pace, walking dog - that dog gets a work out quite often as the nearest choice between 'leisurely pace' and 'brisk pace' .... frown

Why don't you just add your own exercise?

Yeah - once you do the conversion once, add your own and then just use it every time.
