Lots of the con's is the forums really. The search feature could use some improvement that would fix alot of issues with repeat questions.

I'm new and I agree with this. Search kinda sucks. I don't need 50 pages of results that are all posts from the same single topic. Wtf? Show me multiple topics, please.

Not gonna speak on the other stuff, because you get labeled either a "butthurt whiner" or a "troll," LOL. Oh,internet.

My only gripe about the site is how it seems overrun with teenagers battling eating disorders. However, I realize that there is no realistic way to control this, so I just try to keep my blood from boiling.

I have said the same thing to my pals on here this morning. There seems to have been a sudden influx of this in the last month or so also. It's sad and scary that said people are getting support and encouragement from their friends list. After trying to advise a few with no responses I decided to just delete them out of my friend list and move on with my day.

This site is GREAT! What do you want, it's a CALORIE COUNTER?!!! If you use it as such (and NOT expect it to meet your emotional needs) you would appreciate it more. For emotionally fragile people, it may be necessary for you to get in a "closed" group or just don't read or post. Find a Social Networking spot where you can get the stroking you need all the time.

I used to post here a lot, BUT when I got REALLY serious about My Health and Weight loss, I stopped reading and posting so much...basically I was in and out (just enough to log my food...). I also dumped "My Friends" and closed My Diary and Profile. I realized that I'm about MY HEALTH and Wt LOSS and MOST of what you read here is badly based opinions and conjecture. If you can reason then you should DO what is Best for YOU and STOP trying to make the WORLD into YOUR image! Take what You can use and MOVE On...Live and Let Live. NOW, you are just one of the jerks.

Best answer in this thread^^

The site's fine - it's all the idiots in the forums that spoil it. Stay away from those and it's all good.

I like the tools that the site provides for my weight loss. I'm very happy with the friends I've made. I've seen some threads that are very volatile. If I have a question I ask my friends, I typically don't ask in the forums because some people are just plain rude and snarky because they feel they can be, thanks to internet anonymity.

I cannot speak from previous experience as I just started using the forums, but I can say that it is not very "newcomer friendly". What I mean by that is that most forums, when you introduce yourself, you typically get several replies welcoming you, etc etc. I introduced myself yesterday and got not one reply. Not exactly welcoming.

You are sooo right. If you post wanting help and advice, you get NOTHING. It used to be all about healthy goals and fitness. All people want to do, is use this thing like damn Facebook, to flirt, ***** and moan. The forums are horrible now, so many Trolls, weirdos and the kind of people who bullied at school who still haven't got over it. Humph!

That is because she got flamed in a post just before starting this thread after make very confusing comments and insulting the OP of that thread while admitting to being drunk. So I find this thread very ironic.

This was her old account. She had three glasses of wine last night...got into a debate with some forum members *whistles*...and deactivated.

She made a new account today...is in a much better mood...and is in fact a very sweet girl.

Well if OP feels that mfp isn't doing what its supposed too, he always has the option of creating a bigger better website. Or stop complaining.

TOTALLY AGREE! If you pick your friends wisely they will support your goals.

I love this site but I do agree it has gone downhill (not saying it's **** now, just used to be SO much better)
Just as previous posts have said, the more popular it becomes the more people you get ... good and bad, the bad ones are just more noticiable

My only advice is keep your friends list selective.

Agree totally. Sometimes its heart rending but you have to break off communication.

like REALLY sick of them.

Other than that, it's fine. I just keep myself to myself now which is a shame because I used to like the forums!

Ugh me too!!!

Me too!!! I have it in my profile not to friend me if you are but it seems as if those are the only people that do friend me now.

You look great Dawn :). If I saw the post I would have commented for sure.

Maybe so, maybe not. What works for one won't necessarially work for others. If it doesn't work for you go some where else. You won't have perfect for everyone and you can't please everyone either/.tongue

I love this site!! I have been here for almost a year, and I have changed my lifestyle and the way I eat. THANK YOU MFP!

Any time you bring many people together, you will have many differing opinions. It is unfortunate that the "trolls" have a different opinion than you, but it is their right to have and to voice their opinion. If you don't want to read ideas that differ from your own, you probably shouldn't read the message boards.
