HA I've only been on this site like 10 days but all I've gotten is support! I love it so far. I have noticed things already, but theres always gonna be THOSE people. You know.... But yeah I just try to take things like that in stride.

Trolls. They lurk everywhere, not just under bridges nowadays.

I love this site, and find it incredibly informative, and I see tons of support. I do, however, get sick of the multiple threads that are started everyday for nothing but to just complain.... kinda like this one. wink

Careful man, Jules got a strike today for telling me I had a sexy brain in a thread that was running the same direction as this one.

You don't want a strike...I mean they...they...hmm...I don't know why you don't, but you don't!

I got a PM from a mod for starting that thread betting which topic would be "whiney thread of the day". Apparently you can piss and moan on here all you want, but you can't have a thread acknowledging said "pissing and moaning"

Pretty much.

Anyhow, I've clearly trolled enough, and I don't want to be accused of setting women against each other (again, and yes...I know I didn't set any women against each other...I didn't then either), so off I go to find another thread to share my wisdom in.

Have a nice one folks!

I cannot speak from previous experience as I just started using the forums, but I can say that it is not very "newcomer friendly". What I mean by that is that most forums, when you introduce yourself, you typically get several replies welcoming you, etc etc. I introduced myself yesterday and got not one reply. Not exactly welcoming.

I know the feeling, I did a post on my success so far and didn't even fill a page of replies sad most telling me how to redo my pics!

But other than that I actually like the site and refuse to post if i don't agree with the topic etc...

I can take it... can you? If you live your life being butthurt all the time it will overwhelm you. I learned in my year in Afghanistan to not get butthurt about anything. None makes you feel any certain way, YOU make YOUrself feel that way.

I am new, but I notice a lot of people trying to flirt/pick up on each other online like a dating website lol.

I think it's fantastic. Maybe I'm just not sensitive. I find nothing but awesome positive support.

I have seen this a lot on other forums too, and when people provide other points of views, some people take that as arguing or bashing or whatever. Too sensitive, my friends. This is an anonymous Internet forum. People are going to have different points of views. You should read them, consider them, do some research and think about what others are saying. I think a community that just cheers you on is a bad community. What if you are doing it wrong?

So, cheer up and enjoy the ride. Don't be so sensitive about it. Think of it more as a stream of conscienceness thing. The information here is top notch. And I find the support to be top notch too.

Again, I'm not very sensitive to people I don't care about or that don't share my views, so maybe it's easier for me to find the bits that make me happy.

This is exactly what I would have said if I were more diplomatic. I'm just not. Amen.

Me too...

I've been trying to just not talk...but it's simply not working.

No strikes though (how the eff did THAT happen?)...so I'm not real worried.

My only gripe about the site is how it seems overrun with teenagers battling eating disorders. However, I realize that there is no realistic way to control this, so I just try to keep my blood from boiling.

This site is GREAT! What do you want, it's a CALORIE COUNTER?!!! If you use it as such (and NOT expect it to meet your emotional needs) you would appreciate it more. For emotionally fragile people, it may be necessary for you to get in a "closed" group or just don't read or post. Find a Social Networking spot where you can get the stroking you need all the time.

I used to post here a lot, BUT when I got REALLY serious about My Health and Weight loss, I stopped reading and posting so much...basically I was in and out (just enough to log my food...). I also dumped "My Friends" and closed My Diary and Profile. I realized that I'm about MY HEALTH and Wt LOSS and MOST of what you read here is badly based opinions and conjecture. If you can reason then you should DO what is Best for YOU and STOP trying to make the WORLD into YOUR image! Take what You can use and MOVE On...Live and Let Live. NOW, you are just one of the jerks.

Lots of the con's is the forums really. The search feature could use some improvement that would fix alot of issues with repeat questions. Trolls are on every website simple to bypass. The real issue is people with dangerous eating disorders giving out advice and causing a pro-anorexia.

I think the friend system is fantastic. I've gotten an incredible amount of support from it, and I love seeing friends making big changes and reaching their goals! If someone adds me and turns out to be pro ana or ignores basic scientific logic on nutrition, I just delete them. No big. Calorie counting is really straightforward and the database is huge.

The forums are pretty supportive considering it's about diet, a VERY inflammatory topic in the real world.

This is the second post you've made tonight that I've seen, and the second I've been 100% in agreement with.

Nice work :).

I have been on here a week and have found it quite supportive, I have made some friends who are a great daily boost. I am fast learning to stay out of some forum subjects, if I open it and it is not something I am interested in like who is the sexiest etc I just go back out and find something else to read. Like everything else in life ya gotta take the good where you find it and ignore the bad.

I have definitely found a lot of support here, and I've tried to build my groups and friends around that. I think this is an awesome tool! So thankful for it, actually.

I think the nature of online communities is that they tend to imitate real life, and we have to navigate it as such: we choose whom we interact with and how.

Just a thought, - which I need to remind myself of... Make sure that if you're looking for support, you're giving it too. That's what makes stuff like this work. Just like life.

I totally agree with this

I have some incredible supportive friends here that I wouldn't trade for anything! But I have found that staying out of the forums (for the most part) has helped me avoid lots of negativity.

This site is fantastic and has helped a lot I have some great MfpF that are very active and very encouraging.
Forums are like any other type of internet posting tool be it IRC Aol chat rooms Facebook etc etc, Your always going to get people that like to be negative and obnoxious because of there own issues or just because some people are just mean spirited. And the more people that join the more the pool of those type of people gets bigger. My first post on this site the first reply I had was a woman tearing me a new arsehole, she was quickly put in her place by myself and lots of other people on this site. So it's not all bad lol.

It's like anything in life you cant get on with everyone, and when it comes to the internet Online heroes popup everywhere just take them with a pinch of salt.

Have a great weekend everyone and if you would Like a new Mfp freind just send me a Invitaion.
