When I complete my log in for the day (usually the following morning) it does not show up on "MY HOME" page. Is this correct or am I doing something wrong. Will it not show up if I complete it the next day?

The automatic post the newsfeed is only generated if the diary is completed before midnight in your local time zone.

The idea is to prevent "news feed spam." For instance, some users may return from a week's vacation without internet connection and log and complete seven days of diary. We only post the current day's "event" to the news feed so that friends' feeds don't fill up with back-dated diary announcements. If you can get the complete diary action in before midnight, you should see a post every time.
