My fitbit isn't syncing with MFP. Same thing happened yesterday where for many hours it didn't take any note of my steps (up over 10K at the time). Today it's not taking note of the 455 calories I manually input for a fitness class nor any of my steps - again, I'm close to 10K at this time. It used to be fairly timely -- within a 15 minute window but this is now hours that it's not syncing. I've done all the quit, log-out, restart stuff.

I just bought one and synced it with MPF. However, I'm confused as to how they're supposed to sync together. Yeah MPF has a "fitbit" connected.. but no information was needed to pick out my specific fitbit. How will it track mine? You'd think it would need my fitbit account information or something...

when you synced accounts did it redirect/log you on to your fitbit acc? also you need to go under setings and "allow" it to talk to mfp an vis versa

Hi Folks,

Sorry if you're having an issue with syncing between MyFitnessPal and FitBit.

Below are some thoughts about how sync should work. Can you have a look, and reply with any details about what parts of sync do not seem to be working properly? Any details, dates, and estimates of the delay amount will be very helpful.

Also, for those of you just getting started, here's a link to all of our frequently asked questions about FitBit integration: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/help/section/65-fitbit-integration

Bear in mind that once your data gets from your fitbit device to fitbit.com, we expect up to a 15 minute delay before the data comes over to MyFitnessPal. That's if everything's working as expected.

Also, if the delay is between your fitbit device and the fitbit.com site, you may need to reinstall your fitbit software. Here's a link to that support article at FitBit.com http://help.fitbit.com/customer/portal/articles/176035-tracker-set-up-and-syncing-issue

And here's what to check on our site:

There are three data points that you can compare between your FitBit and MFP accounts to determine if your accounts are syncing properly.

These three items are FitBit Steps, FitBit Sleep Minutes, and the FItBit Adjustment (for calories burned).

You can see your Fitbit Steps and Fitbit Sleep Minutes in two places:

1. Under the "My Home" tab, click "Check-In". This will take you to a screen where you can enter in new progress measurements. This is where we record your Fitbit Steps and Fitbit Sleep Minutes. If you want to go directly to that screen you can go to this URL:

http://www.myfitnesspal.com/measurements/check_in">www.myfitnesspal.com/measurements/check_in

2. You can see a graph of your Steps and Sleep Minutes by going to the "Reports" tab and choosing to graph "Progress". When you see the option to "Choose a Report" you can choose Steps or Sleep Minutes. This will give you a little graph.

(Note that if you do not attach your FitBit to the wrist band and set it to stopwatch mode when you sleep, you should not expect to see any FitBit Sleep Minutes data.)

If you want to verify that the Fitbit calorie adjustment is working correctly, you can compare two numbers, one on MFP (with a little math) and one on Fitbit.

If you go to this page on Fitbit (www.fitbit.com/activities), you should be able to see your total calories burned under the heading "Daily Totals". This is the total calories that your Fitbit believes you've burned for any given day.

If you go to this page on MyFitnessPal (http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/my_goals">www.myfitnesspal.com/account/my_goals) you should be able to see our estimate for calories burned under "Your Diet Profile" --> "Calories Burned" --> "From Normal Daily Activity". This is the estimate we created for you based on your height, weight, age, gender, activity level, etc...

Add to this estimate any calories of cardio exercise you have logged for the day. If the Fitbit number is HIGHER than our estimate+exercise, we'll add a "Fitbit calorie adjustment" to account for the difference. If the number is LOWER, you will not see an adjustment for that day. The adjustment can be very helpful in fine-tuning your calorie goal, so if you're not receiving an adjustment on your active days, try lowering your "Activity Level" in your profile settings by one notch, to give the system room to adjust you "up".

Please let us know where this seems to be not working, and we'll take a closer look for you!

Steven - I have had a few days lately where all of the information has taken a few hours to synch to MFP. I am seeing information loaded on MFP synch almost immediately to the fitbit website today, but data coming into MFP has been much slower. It seems like it is taking 30+ minutes (maybe more, I haven't been watching that closely) to synch on MFP. Last time this was happening, the FitBit site was getting some upgrades. I don't know if that is the problem today though.

Isnt the fitbit website weight tracker just as good as mu fitness pal. What is the benefit of using my fitness pal over the fitbit tracker? Just curious...

Thanks. There does seem to be asymmetry in the sync times depending on the direction of sync, and we're looking into it.

Those who like using MyFitnessPal in combination with FitBit tend to report these reasons:

- they enjoy the social aspect of MyFitnessPal
- they prefer the food database at MyFitnessPal because they feel it's more extensive
- integrating the fitbit gives a closer estimate of actual calories used in a day, whereas MyFitnessPal has only four levels of activity to choose from. so the fitbit enhances use of MyFitnessPal by acting as the "fine tuning dial" in tracking calories used.

My fitbit has not sync'd (checkedin) since yesterday morning, the last time was around 8:00am MST. This has been previously syncing for the past month without any issues other then the occasional hour delay once in a while.

Checking on the fitbit.com site my manual exercises from MFP yesterday also did not sync. From the Tools section the fitbit appears to be still setup to be sync'd.

Thanks

I do not have sync in either direction today. My steps/calories are not getting to myfitnesspal and my food entries in myfitnesspal are not getting into fitbit.

Things were ok yesterday but today no sync in either direction.
May 25, 2012 7:48 AM
Mine too! I think we all need to log this on the fitbit profile so they take notice and fix the problem-my last sync was yesterday at 3ish!

Have you tried pushing the little button on the bottom of the stand? I did that and restarted my computer and it finally synced after waiting all day.

I think it is a fitbit website issue. If you notice.... the leaderboards have not updated on the fitbit website the last 2 days either! I must say.... I love my fitbit but am highly disappointed with their website and even moreso with their customer sevice! (or lack of it) They have really dropped the ball!

This is great information; Could you please add a status button that would show the date and time of the last sync?
I think that would be really helpful. The fitbit.com site has a button that shows that status of the last sync and it takes the guess work out.
