I was very disappointed that I could not override the 1200 calories as a daily goal. A 5'2" woman and a 6' tall woman do not need the same minimum goal. I wanted to set for a 2# a week weight loss. I am in menopause and not active so metabolism is running slow. For the past six weeks I have been eating around 1200 calories and it did not work very well for weight loss. Now you would subtract 1000 calories a day from normal calorie intake need 1900 and that leaves 900 calories a day for a 2 pound a week weight loss. Sometimes common sense gets thrown out with the one size fits all rules. I dont have the same nutritional needs as a tall woman. I am a dietitian. I know a two pound a week loss is a safe loss.

You can manually set your goal if you want it to be lower than MFP's minimum. Go to Goals --> Change Goals --> choose the Custom option, & input what you want your calorie goal to be. Hope this helps :)
