Can someone explain why the calories burned are not counted under the strength training tab? I have to group all the excercises under the cardio tab for the calories to count. Can it be possible to separate the two please?

I hope someon answers, I do a lot of strength training, and I know it is burning a lot of calories, but it's only calculating me burning 200-400 a day.

Yes, an aswer for this would be good. I have an app that suggests I used up 600+ calories the other day but unless I'm doing cardio myfitness won't count it.

Thanks Pandorian, I should have looked there....
But it still is not helpful, since the calories that they give are not accurate. They can find some way to calculate the calories burned by using all the factors that they ask for anyway(i.e. weight used, reps, and my actual weight) so even the estimate does not help... But at least I know now a reason as to why they do not do it, but that does not mean that they can not work on it. |

It'll always be a guess, to an extent, unless you work out in a sports university lab. I've found runtastic good for calories burnt. Otherwise you have to sit down with a calculator and work out the energy expenditure per rep involving mass moved (including me for whole body things) and so on.
I just started putting my exercises down as "hard circuit training" or somesuch; it made my graphs of calories in and used much prettier to look at!

I used this website to find my RMR --> http://www.shapesense.com/fitness-exercise/calculators/resting-metabolic-rate-calculator.aspx, then I used the formula from this website --> http://www.livestrong.com/article/76934-calories-burned-lifting-weights/, and took a guesstimate between 3 METs for moderate and 6 for vigorous workout and was able to calculate my calorie burn per hour. Not perfect, but it's probably not to far off either.
