i only started getting my period regularly 2 months ago (i'm bulimic so my menstural cycle wasn't regular before that) so this has never happened before but last week i was 124 now i'm 130. there were 2 days where i didn't eat so well but it's impossible to have gained so much. do you think it's my period (my period will start on the 13th)? also when you gain weight on your period does your weight fluctuate or does the number stay the same?

It's very normal to gain weight in the week running up to your period. If you do a quick search of the forum, you'll find lots of topics on it (but don't worry, even people who have been having their period for years seem to get freaked out!) Don't panic though, because it's not fat, it's just water retention. It should drop again in a few days. For me, it goes away again any time from just before the end of my period to a few days after. Its nothing to worry about, and wont affect your overall weight loss. Some women decide not to weigh themselves around that time because they find it discouraging. In your situation, you might find it takes a little while to settle into what will be your normal pattern. Main thing: don't worry about it. Unless you ate about 21,000 calories over your maintenance (which is more than your daily calorie goal) then it's not 6 lbs of fat.

It's quite common, it's bloat and surely not fat gain. Some people gain up 5-10 pounds during their period, so do I. I used to freak me out but I just don't weigh myself when I get it :) You're fine and didn't gain actual weight, it's just water retention. Drink lots of water to decrease the bloat.

Happens to me too! Water retention, it would seem - my silver rings are a lot tighter, and I just generally feel bleurgh and bloated. Drink plenty, it helps :)

I always am heavier the week before my period, it is very common. And remember, weight can fluctuate quite a bit even on a daily basis....how much water you drink, what you eat, if you worked out...I can fluctuate pound in a day, depending on what time I weigh myself!

Like what the others have said. It's water retention. It happened to me as well. Not only my weight went up, even my measurements. *the horror*

Once it's over, things just fall back in place again. Thank God.

Happens to me as well. Definately water retention and the best thing is to keep drinking more water to help flush it out. TTOM for me last week and I put on 500g.
