For those asking how we eat this and that and still lose or lost the weight please Start another thread citing this thread instead of taking this thread off topic. I know you are curious but try to keep it on topic. try pm'ing the person you are asking with a quote from the comment you are asking about. I am sure they would love to respond.

I wasn't trying to be mean did it come off that way? I just have noticed a trend of this thread going off topic very fast especially with the pic quoting issue.

I grew up on the north side of Chicago I moved here When my daughters were very young.

Just to keep this comment on topic I will post a pic of food :)

I am so jealous of ALL of you guys! All these foods look SO good. I am drooling!

I am horrible chef and my attempts are hit and miss (mostly miss!). I am not creative so I can never think of anything to make so I look for recipes. Long recipes end up confusing me and I always mess them up.

I will continue to stare at this thread until I can come up with inspiration for dinner tonight...

ham-wow!!! I've been saying that one wrong too!!! I already say enough stuff with an "accent" thanks to living in WI all those years...so if I can learn the proper way to pronounce something, then I totally will!! thanks for the info :) ps...I think this batch of coffee fluff looks much better then the last!

I should add that the top mispronounced Japanese word IMO is karaoke. I really don't get how it's pronounced "carry oaky". There's nothing about how it's spelled that would just you get the "carry". "Oaky" I get because the ending "e" gets mispronounced as a long "ee" sound. The correct pronunciation is "kah-rah-oh-keh".

One thing to remember about Japanese pronunciation is that there are only 5 base vowel sounds. When spelled out in Roman letters, a = "ah" (as in bah), i = "ee" (as in eek), u = "oo" (like in toot), e = "eh", and o = "oh". Also, the letter y is a consonant, not a vowel sound. For example, Kyoto is not "key oh toh". The k and y blend together "kyoh toh".

nz-sushi is wrong too??? how do you say that one??

I think Americans are ok with pronouncing sushi. It's those darn Aussies and their funny accent. happy

As to not completely hijack this thread with Japanese pronunciation rules, I had breakfast this morning of steel cut oats and fresh blueberries (as the local Florida ones are now out). Made in the rice cooker, it came out all purdy. With a dollop of ffgy.

Speaking as someone who has studied Japanese but also lives in NZ: we say 'karaoke', 'karate', and 'sushi' in our own accents, despite knowing that's not how they're supposed to sound, coz otherwise we sound like pretentious d***s :P

My beloved sweet potato casserole with cinnamon, plumcots (plum mixed with apricot) and a dash of nutmeg (I lived off of this when I had my wisdom teeth out--tastes like pumpkin pie filling, but super healthy):

I am very curious about this one! Do you boil + mash the sweet potato and then mix the plums, apricot and nutmeg in and bake? How is it so low cal?

Agree with the above about asking questions in another thread re weight loss. But simply, cals in vs out. Eat less or move more.

Brunner:

mango/passionfruit/banana protein fluff
(used 40g banana casein & frozen jelly with 1/2 tspn xanthum. BIGGEST fluff ever, could only finish half)

The jelly was mango/passion fruit flavoured and protein was banana. Just semi froze the jelly. Put the protein in with about 40ml of water, then added the semi frozen jelly and xanthum. Cranked on high for 10mins. DONE. EASY AS! And it tastes so much more fruity than my egg white based ones so I'll be doing these from now on. Thanks for the idea HamnCheese!

banana/cinnamon protein pudding with sf maple syrup
20g banana protein
dash of cinnamon
50ml egg whites
enough water to get to a batter consistency.

Microwave for 1min (better to be undercooked than overcooked). (You can also add ffgy or applesauce to moisten it)
