Yay! Thank you. I would also like to see the recipes from my friends as well. Keep up the good work!

Not only would a "share recipes with friends" feature be obviously beneficial. But I'd love to see shared recipes of members who are NOT my friends, too. I get bored with the same old food I always make and want to see what other healthy meals inspire me to get cooking.
Take a peek at one of your competitors (sparkpeople.com) who has done this brilliantly. I can enter all my recipe ingredients/details and then choose to either keep it private OR share it on their recipe section. I can also search recipes in their database by a number of parameters. Plus, they have a chef on staff who makes fantastic foods and shares the recipes. Frankly, this feature on sparkpeople has kept me on their site for over 4 years now. But because my sister is on YOUR site and we're trying to encourage each other with some healthy living, I'm over here trying out myfitnesspal.com and am incredibly disappointed in the zero support for building out a user-generated recipe database that can then be added to my food tracker. I'm giving this a go for a few weeks. But if I have to keep going over to SparkPeople to find recipes, what's making me stay here? Just a thought I'll be considering over the coming weeks. Thanks! |

It would be nice if you could share it with just your friend's list or only certain users instead of cluttering up the database with duplicate sounding recipes.

Bump. A huge part of the magic of MFP is how we can share with our MFP friends and sharing our recipes would be huge. And being able to browse other people's recipes and recorded meals. That would be fantastic.

I can share recipies from a friend using my android phone but they cannot do the same back (using an android phone), why? It says you can share friends meals via spanner, but accessing friends food diary does not let you do this, there is no spanner displayed and when you click on food it comes up with an error "unable to edit entry". Anyone know a way round this? We have clicked share settings to enable others to share menus etc. Many thanks.

I guess I'll pile on. This would be a great addition to the app. It would be nice to share the recipe with my wife and friends on iPhone, iPad, or even online.

Add me to this list. Would love to be able to share recipes only with friends/family that I'm eating meals with. It's a pain for everyone to have to enter the same thing in their MFP.

I jump on the bandwagon as well, as there are at least 3 of us dieting together and this will help save time...

Hi there, like your other members we would love it if we could share our recipes with our "myfitnesspal" wife and family members
It would make it so much easier for our family to track stuff we eat |

Sharing the recipe would make a lot of sense. |

I completely agree. I have to add every recipe to my own Fitness Pal and also my husbands. It's a huge waste of time. It would be nice to be able share the recipe with my friends. Please make this an option soon.

don't enter it in each family members "recipes" that's not needed if they are eating what you made and just want the nutrition info from the meal...
it's possible to copy the nutritional info of a serving of a recipe from a friends diary via the website (in addition to Android, iPhone and IPad apps) On the web you just view a friends diary that has it shared, go to the meal in question, click quick tools and copy to today... that will copy it from their diary to yours. MFP announcement of this feature being added http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/796870-copying-meals-from-friends-now-available-on-the-site It only copies the nutritional info of a serving (you can change "how much" you ate if you had 1.5 of a "serving"

There is a bit just above the "save recipe" button, that says "Would you like to submit this recipe to the MyFitnessPal recipe database?" I have never tried clicking "yes", but it seems to me that if you do, then your recipe should be available to everyone... so your friends/family can search for your meal and add it :)

QUOTE: We are currently accepting submissions to the MyFitnessPal recipe database. Once we receive enough submissions, we'll create a recipe section where users can browse recipes submitted by other members. Until then, you can To submit your recipe to the database, please provide the following additional information. All fields are required. Emphasis mine. In other words "recipe sharing" where your "friends" can find your recipe as entered and get the ingredients/ quantities / assembly instructions isn't currently a live feature in MFP. What IS live and available is the ability to copy the nutritional info of a recipe from your food diary to their own.
