I will say that there have been at least 2 times I went more than a month without logging in. One was after my father in law passed away. I knew that logging was just not going to be a priority for me during those months that my family and I were dealing with his unexpected death. I was watching my weight, and allowing myself leeway (15 pounds), but set an upper limit for backsliding. When I reached that limit about 4 months later, I decided to come back and get back on the horse. The other time was this past holiday season. I wanted to see how I would do without the constant checking in. I wanted to see if I could make good decisions during a time of year I'm notorious for just going hog wild during. I did gain a little, but much less than I would normally. I saw it as a success, but knew that I would return as soon as the new year arrived. I did, and got right back on the horse again, and have made good progress since then. I am glad that MFP doesn't remove accounts that go silent for a month, or even several. I never stopped being dedicated to becoming more healthy, I just knew that there are things in life that are more important sometimes than logging in to a website.

If you have friends on your list that are not active and it's bothering you, you do have the option to delete those people off of your list. Otherwise, not sure why it affects you at all.

I have quite a few friends on my list that take breaks but I don't bother deleting them, partially b/c it's not really bothering me to have them in my list and partially b/c that way if they do come back to the site, they will still have at least one person ready to welcome them back. :-)

That's really silly... My sister has been in hospital. She has no choice over what she eats at the moment so logging everything will not make a difference. She is a dedicated logger when she is at home though. I'm not sure you really considered why some people don't log all the time before you posted this topic. Anyways Good Luck on your journey hun and try not to worry so much about what everyone else is doing. I mean that in the nicest possible way. :-)

I agree....if something happens where I wouldn't be able to log or whatever, i wouldn't want to have to come back and have none of the friends I had, none of the progress I had shown and I would most def not want to START ALL OVER!!

I started on mfp last year, did it for a month or so and didn't get back on til this march and I've started this for a lifelong change, so if something did happen where I didn't log for a month and came back and everything was gone, i would be furious!

No, she was right. "Then" is an adverb, "than" is a conjunction. If you're going to be smart and try to correct someone, you should at least take the time to make sure you know what you're talking about.

Although...I do agree with the rest of your post. Why worry about inactive accounts? What harm do they do -- clog up the internet? There are so many reasons as to why someone might be inactive for a month -- health, injury, vacation, family issues, etc. -- it doesn't mean they're not dedicated, it means they have a life outside of this website.

The only way inactive accounts affects me is that I would have liked to have used the my first name instead of first and middle as a username, but it was taken by someone who has never used the forum and has no friends and appears to be inactive.

If you really want to be nitpicky, it should be "than" in the title and "then" in the post, and the person you were correcting is right... providing she talking about the title and not the rest of the post.

Which is why I rarely correct anyone's grammar, because I always end up with a typo, misunderstanding or other misuse of a word when I do.
