Which one is better for losing weight:

1. Exercise every day for 30 minutes
2. Exercise 3-4 times a week

Any opinions?

Depends on what you mean by exercise.

Cardio 5-6 times per week

Strength Training 2-3 times a week

But start out slow because you dont want have a injury that prevents you from exercising at all.

As a beginner I would recommend:

Cardio 2-3 times per week to start ... no more than 30 min sessions

Strength Training 2 x per week starting with 2 sets per excercise

Neither method is "better."

For good health, no more than 3 times a week is necessary. Depending on your specific fitness goals, you may choose to work out more. However, rest is equally important to exercise.

I also recommend getting an exercise diary and tracking a few weeks differently, and see how it goes. I've found I should probably take a day off a week, but I don't most weeks. I do tennis 4-6 days a week, run 3-4, and do P90X for strength building. But I love feeling extreme. If you can't do it then don't! Do what's best for you!

You could easily burn as many calories in 3 or 4 intense sessions as you could working out for 30 minutes every day. The result, from a weight loss perspective would be more or less the same.

From a health and fitness perspective it's really a matter of which schedule you're more likely to stick with. As some of the previous posts have suggested a mix of cardio & strength would be a good way to go (with at least one recovery day per week). Again, it comes back to your own preferences and goals.

Start slowly and build up gradually, there are few more frustrating than starting a fitness program only to be sidelined by an injury for a few weeks.

The head coach of my tri club has a very simple philosophy.....every workout should leave you wanting more.
