My ketostrip last niht was moderate a nice magenta color. This AM it was negative ? It was not my first morning urine that I checked it was a few hours after waking up. The scale was also up .8 lbs.

Its frustrating and I can not figure out what took me out of Keto.

The only thing I could see was maybe the honey baked ham. They say be careful of nitrates and nitrites. I believe this ham has some. Read this and see. http://www.boxingscene.com/weight-loss/49433.php

Not sure about the M/M. I looked them up and they only have about 2.2 carbs I think unless you added something else to yours. How did you make yours. Post your recipe and lets look.

I should have known the ham was too good to be true :-)

My Muffin is just basic:
1/4 cup Flaxmeal
Sprinkle of Cinn.
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp splenda
1 Egg
a little butter

And all I topped it with was cream cheese

This is one of the reasons the new Atkins program stopped the use of the strips. They were never meant to be used this way. If you usually test first thing in the morning and changed the time that could change the strip--but not what your body is doing. If you did more (or less or different) exercise yesterday--or drank more water, that could change the strip. So as long as you are eating right and feel good don't worry about it. I used to use the strips--then I started exercising alot and drinking a ton of water, the strips never changed after that.
PS--I love MIMs!!! I don't miss bread at all.

I still use the strips and have discovered that if I exercise the strips don't change colors. I take that into account and go on with the diet.

Agreed, I don't use the strips at all anymore, I spent more time obsessing about being in or out of ketosis and I obsess enough without adding more!!

I have yet to make mims. I might need to visit you to try them out! flowerforyou

I don't see anything here so it could have been the ham. Don't let it throw you. the time of day or exercise or a number of other things could be at play here. Don't put a lot of stock in the strips but they can be used if you want to. I use them just to encourage myself to keep it up. When they don't turn, I feel like I need to try harder but it doesn't discourage me and make me want to quit. I am determined to lose this weight. My motto, "for me, Not losing weight is NOT an option."

I am not tempted to quit, I am in this for the long haul.

I keep promising myself I am not going to use the test strips but I am addicted LOL ... just like my coffee :-)

time of day is key - think of the metabolic process. Keto strips test to see if there are ketones in your urine, which is a byproduct of burning fat. If you test in the morning, then you haven't eaten anything in the last 8+ hours for your body to burn and you just finished resting so your metabolism was dropped off - no burning reserves (or burning alot less). The best bet, if you choose to use the strips - and i might argue that the only time you should be using them is when you're upping your carb intake to understand your carb resistance level - is to use them sometime towards the end of the day, and be as consistent about time as possible.
